Michal Handzus is about 10 pounds lighter than he'd like to be as training camp gets underway. He had his tonsils removed last month and had to take two weeks off from training, according to the LA Daily News. "For two weeks, I couldn't eat anything solid," Handzus said. "It was all ice cream and yogurt." He missed all but eight games last season with a knee injury and signed with the Kings as a free agent in July. Hopefully, he will be able to get to full strength early on, but his health is something worth monitoring.

The Kings signed free agent Michal Handzus to a four-year, $16 million contract on Monday, according to the AP. He played only eight games for the Blackhawks last year before sustaining a season-ending knee injury.

Michal Handzus could resume skating in 3-4 weeks, the Daily Herald reports. Handzus has been out since Oct. 21 after suffering a knee injury that required surgery. The Blackhawks are still interested in retaining Handzus, who is an unrestricted free agent after the season.
