Zdeno Chara has started rehabbing his left shoulder, according to the Boston Herald. He underwent left shoulder surgery six weeks ago to repair a torn labrum. He’s doing daily range-of-motion exercises, and it’s estimated that he faces three more months of rehab, which would take him into September and the start of training camp. He couldn’t state whether he’d be ready from the get-go, but it shouldn’t be too long after that if he isn’t. He said, "We’ll have to see how the rehab goes, but it should be right for the start of training camp. Obviously I want to be careful with everything."

Our View:Chara is among the top defensemen in the NHL, as well as the fantasy world. He notched 17 goals and 34 assists over 77 games in 2007-08, with a plus-minus of 14.

Zdeno Chara did in fact undergo the knife to fix his injured shoulder, according to the Boston Globe. Chara should be able to return for the start of training camp.

Our View:Chara struggled through the shoulder injury at the end of the year an in the playoffs, but overall he still produced another solid season from the blueline. Provided he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should once again be a top-5 pick from the blueline in all formats next season.

After being nominated for the Norris trophy Zdeno Chara learned that he faces surgery on the shoulder that limited him for much of the final quarter of the season, this according to the Boston Herald. “I don’t know for sure, but it looks like it,” said Chara.

Our View:This situation just makes what he was able to accomplish this season even more impressive. Look for the massive rearguard to be in a surly mood come 2008 which certainly doesn't bode well for forwards who will skate into the Bruins' zone.
