Sheldon Souray racked up an impressive 31 minutes in Wednesday's exhibition against the Panthers according to the AP. Twenty-seven of those minutes came from a single overtime event when Souray instigated a fight and recieved, among other things, a game misconduct. He also had an assist in the game.

Our View:Souray is devastating on the power play but you may have forgotten that by now. Shoulder surgery kept him out of all but 26 last season, but just two seasons he had 48 points on the power play and 64 overall while skating with Montreal. On Wednesday, he saw more ice-time than any other Oiler except fellow defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky. Souray is a quality pick and a bit of a sleeper.

Sheldon Souray's first year with the Oilers has mercilessly ended. Souray had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder last week, a procedure that will keep the defenseman from suiting up again this year, according to TSN.ca. He ends the year with 10 points in 26 games.

Sheldon Souray received some good news from the doctors who performed his shoulder surgery this week; he did not have torn labrum but a less severe torn biceps muscle. "There's no torn labrum, but he does have a torn bicep muscle," said Oilers trainer Ken Lowe. Obviously this is great news moving forward but it will little to erase the bad taste in the Oilers mouth as they got just 10 points and 26 games out of their big off-season signing. If healthy, target Souray in next year's draft as he will certainly be undervalued. Edmonton Journal
