Patrick Marleau has been mentioned in trade talks through the off-season, but his no-trade clause becomes effective on July 1, meaning he looks to remain with the Sharks unless he is dealt by tomorrow, according to the Mercury News.

Our View:Marleau has spent his entire NHL career with the Sharks since being selected with the second overall pick in 1997. He dipped to 19 goals over 78 games in 2007-08, but he could bounce back next season and challenge 30 goals once again.

The Sharks are attempting to trade Patrick Marleau to the Blue Jackets prior to July 1, the Ottawa Sun notes. The club wants to receive the Blue Jackets' No. 6 overall draft pick in return. Marleau has a two-year, $12.6 million that kicks in on July 1.

Our View:Marleau has spent his entire career in San Jose after becoming the second overall pick in 1997. His numbers were down in 2007-08, and we're not sure that joining the NHL's lowest-scoring club will help.

Ron Wilson is now the head coach of the Toronto Blue Jays, and though he had his differences with Patrick Marleau while in San Jose, he has nothing but kind words for his former captain, according to the San Jose Mercury News. "I would love to coach Patty Marleau again. We had our differences, but I've had differences with just about every player I've coached along the way," Wilson said. "Patty is a great player and he's going to continue to improve and he's going to be a great leader in San Jose."

Our View:Marleau's name will certainly once again come up in trade rumors this off-season, but after arguably the worst offensive season of his career, will there be any takers considering his salary?
