Erik Cole finally got his first goal of the season on Saturday in Carolina's 3-2 loss to Columbus. Cole had failed to register a point in his first five games this year.

Our View:Cole isn't the offensive threat that he once was, but he still has enough ability to get in the goal column every now and again. He doesn't look like much of a fantasy play, but the Hurricanes hope his leadership can light a spark under a struggling team.

The Miami Herald is reporting that the Carolina Hurricanes have activated Erik Cole. Cole will play in Sunday's game against the Sharks.

Our View:Cole wasn't scheduled to be back until mid-November, so he has healed very quickly. The Canes need a boost from somewhere, so hopefully Cole can deliver. He was scoreless in two games before his injury.

Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer is reporting that Canes' forward Erik Cole could return as soon as this weekend. Cole has been sidelined this season due to a broken leg.

Our View:If Cole can make it back this weekend, he would be well ahead of the mid-November projected date. The Canes need all the help they can get right now, and a veteran like Cole might be enough to spark the offense. He had 42 points last season, so he is capable of scoring.
