Rams sign CB Bartell St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams re-signed free agent
cornerback Ron Bartell to a four-year contract on Wednesday.
"It was apparent to us that Ron fits the mold we are looking for in our
defensive players," said St. Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo. "Ron is a good
player and an even better person. We are glad he will be a part of our team."
Bartell played in all 16 games with a career-high 14 starts in 2008. He tied
his career high with three interceptions and added 20 passes defensed, which
is a best for him.
The Rams re-signed linebacker David Vobora to a one-year contract on Friday, according to Jim Thomas on Twitter.
Our View:The former Mr. Irrelevant has found a home in St. Louis and was quite the opposite of his moniker last season. He was arguably the Rams' best run-defending linebacker and looks to have a concrete job next season. The team may bring in some competition, but Vobora should be a factor once again.
Kenneth Darby has re-signed with the Rams, according to Howard Balzer's twitter page. He was an exclusive rights free agent.
Our View:Darby looked good last season, as he averaged 5.6 yards over 27 carries. He is capable of solid production, but his fantasy stock will remain limited while serving as a backup behind stud Steven Jackson.
