Rams sign CB Bartell St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams re-signed free agent
cornerback Ron Bartell to a four-year contract on Wednesday.
"It was apparent to us that Ron fits the mold we are looking for in our
defensive players," said St. Louis head coach Steve Spagnuolo. "Ron is a good
player and an even better person. We are glad he will be a part of our team."
Bartell played in all 16 games with a career-high 14 starts in 2008. He tied
his career high with three interceptions and added 20 passes defensed, which
is a best for him.
The National Football Post reports that Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo is sticking with Marc Bulger as his starting quarterback despite the former Pro Bowler's ineffectiveness this season.
Our View:Bulger has just three touchdowns and a miserable 68.2 quarterback rating this year, but Spags sees potential there. The 1-7 Rams are on a bye week, but Bulger will still be the voice in the huddle when they return to the turf against the Saints in Week 10. "I think Marc has done everything we needed him to do," Spagnuolo said. "I've said this before; it's not one position on the side of the ball, it's everybody. He has been a leader, he manages the game." Sounds like Bulger isn't going anywhere, but he doesn't deserve a second look in fantasy formats.
Danny Amendola did not practice Tuesday while dealing with a concussion suffered in Week 8 at Detroit, according to Adam Schefter's (ESPN) twitter page.
Our View:He will be tested tomorrow. The Rams have their bye this week, giving the receiver time to recover.
Undrafted free agent cornerback Danny Gorrer has signed with the Rams, according to the team.
Our View:Gorrer had been on the practice squad of the Saints. He is solely a special teams player, and his signing likely has something to do with the fact that the Rams are facing the Saints in Week 10.
