Mike Williams, WR Wednesday 9/8, 7:32 PM CT
Mike Williams will start at split end for the Seahawks in their opener this weekend, according to Mike Sando of ESPN.

Our View: Williams will be playing in a role that usually runs the deep routes, but his speed has always been a concern. And then there's the fact that the 'Hawks will likely to struggle to keep their quarterback upright. He's one starter to avoid in fantasy leagues this year, as are most of Seattle's skill players.
Jordan Babineaux, S Tuesday 9/7, 4:04 PM CT
According to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, recently released safety Jordan Babineaux has re-signed with the Seahawks.

Our View: He, and his $2.45 million salary, was cut two days ago. Seattle gambled they could keep him for cheaper and won. As he did in 2009, he'll provide solid depth in Seattle's secondary.
Craig Terrill, DT Tuesday 9/7, 4:02 PM CT
Craig Terrill has been released by the Seattle Seahawks, according to Danny O'Neill of the Seattle Times.

Our View: A defensive tackle, he tallied 11 tackles and one sack in 13 games a season ago. Still only 30 years old, it's doubtful his career is over.
Russell Okung, T Tuesday 9/7, 1:16 PM CT
Russell Okung (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 1, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: As a result, either Chester Pitts or Tyler Polumbus will start at left tackle against the 49ers. Matt Hasselbeck and company will have it that much tougher against a fine defense.
Steve Vallos, G Monday 9/6, 10:20 PM CT
Steve Vallos has been claimed off waivers by the Cleveland Browns, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View: A center, he'll provide depth along the offensive line, but not much else for Eric Mangini and the Browns.
Justin Forsett, RB Monday 9/6, 6:50 PM CT
According to the Seattle Times' Danny O'Neill, Justin Forsett will serve as the Seahawks' starting running back in Week 1.

Our View: There had been some speculation that Leon Washington would be the man in Seattle this season, but Forsett has at least temporarily held him off. Fighting for carries with Washington and Julius Jones, Forsett is far from an elite option, but obviously one that needs to be owned. In Week 1, he'll be facing a 49ers run defense that ranked sixth in the NFL in 2009.
Julius Jones, RB Monday 9/6, 3:48 PM CT
Pro Football Talk reports that Julius Jones was never actually cut by the Seahawks, but did have his contract reworked.

Our View: Jones figures to be at least somewhat involved in the Seahawks' weekly plan. Still, he is the third most attractive fantasy commodity on this roster, after Justin Forsett and Leon Washington. There's little to no need to own Jones right now.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Monday 9/6, 10:37 AM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh has signed a one-year, $855,000 deal with the Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: Housh was reported yesterday to have narrowed his choices down to the Raiders and Redskins, but that apparently was not the case. It sounds like he opted to play with a contender as opposed to what would have been his best scenario in terms of playing time. He'll be behind Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason on the depth chart in Baltimore but shouldn't have much of a problem surpassing Mark Clayton as the Ravens' No. 3 receiver. While that role will give him little to no fantasy relevance, both Boldin and Mason have been known to be banged up from time to time, meaning Housh could find himself into the starting lineup at some point this season.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Sunday 9/5, 9:32 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh has apparently narrowed down his choices to Oakland and Washington regarding where he'll sign, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: He'd be the No. 2 receiver in Washington behind Santana Moss, and either the No. 1 or No. 2 receiver in Oakland alongside Louis Murphy. He doesn't have much fantasy value, especially over the first few weeks of the season, but could still be worth owning at either destination.
Jordan Babineaux, S Sunday 9/5, 3:51 PM CT
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks released safety Jordan Babineaux Sunday.

Our View: Babineaux was due $2.45 million, which is a lot to pay a third safety even when he's one of the better reserve DBs in the league. By dumping him and Julius Jones the team saved nearly $5 million in salaries. Someone will snatch this guy up quickly.
Julius Jones, RB Sunday 9/5, 3:38 PM CT
The Seahawks released running back Julius Jones Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: And a stretch of frustrating futility in the 'Hawks backfield comes to an end. Now the team doesn't have to waste $2.45 million on a third-team back, and it now appears that Justin Forsett will be the starter with Leon Washington splitting snaps almost down the middle.
Quinn Pitcock, DT Saturday 9/4, 8:17 PM CT
Quinn Pitcock has been released by the Seattle Seahawks.

Our View: Attempting to make an NFL comeback after an addiction to video-games prematurely ended his career two years ago, he didn't show enough in camp to make the team. In a bitter piece of irony, he'll now have to pick up the latest edition of EA Sports' Madden series if he wants to know what it feels like to be an NFL player.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Saturday 9/4, 6:04 PM CT
Despite rumors to the contrary, T.J. Houshmandzadeh has not yet signed with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View: They are certainly one of the favorites for his services, but as of now, he remains a free agent. Expect that to change before midnight, however.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Saturday 9/4, 1:20 PM CT
The Seahawks have released T.J. Houshmandzadeh, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Our View: This move had been expected for the past few days, as nobody expressed serious interest in trading for him. Still, he figures to be picked up by someone before long.
J.P. Losman, QB Saturday 9/4, 10:52 AM CT
The Seahawks have released J.P. Losman, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: He would have been the team's third quarterback, but it looks like Seattle is deciding to enter the season with only Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Saturday 9/4, 9:41 AM CT
ESPN Radio's Tom Pelissero claims that the Vikings have not made any trade offers for T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Our View: This refutes a report made by the Cincinnati Enquirer's Joe Reedy yesterday. We'd probably side with Pelissero on this one, as Housh is not an attractive commodity right now.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Friday 9/3, 11:06 PM CT
According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Vikings, Jets, Chargers and Cardinals have all made trade offers for receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Our View: The Seahawks are prepared to release him if they do not get a satisfactory trade offer. It bodes well for them that four teams are interested, as they should likely now be able to get a fair deal.
Mike Williams, WR Friday 9/3, 5:16 PM CT
With the Seahawks deciding to part ways with veteran wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Mike Williams has been elevated into the club's starting lineup, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: A gigantic bust to this point in his career, Williams must have really impressed his former college coach Pete Carroll this summer. Although by virtue of becoming a starter he becomes a must add in all PPR leagues, the owner of just 15 catches since the end of the 2005 season, expectations for his play need to be kept very, very low.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Friday 9/3, 5:06 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh's time in Seattle has come to an end, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team has decided to trade or release him ahead of Saturday's cut-down day. Former Lion Mike Williams will take his place in the starting lineup.

Our View: There had been rumblings that the Seahawks were ready to part ways with their veteran receiver, but it was never considered very likely because of his $7 million 2010 salary. After looking highly unexplosive last season, he might have fewer suitors than one would imagine. Stay tuned.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Friday 9/3, 1:19 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh is increasingly unlikely to play for the Seahawks this season, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: It sounds more and more like the Seahawks may indeed cut him if they're unable to find a trade partner. His fantasy value certainly takes a hit, though he should latch on elsewhere before long, this assuming that he is indeed no longer in Seattle.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Thursday 9/2, 3:48 PM CT
According to NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, the Seahawks are actively shopping veteran receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Our View: Due to make over $7 million this season, however, his market should be extremely limited. Look for him to either remain in Seattle, or to get released.
Charlie Whitehurst, QB Thursday 9/2, 1:53 PM CT
According to Pro Football Talk, "there's a sense in Seattle that (back-up quarterback Charlie Whitehurst) isn't as good as advertised."

Our View: Acquired with much fanfare earlier this offseason, he failed to put any heat on incumbent Matt Hasselbeck, and has played extremely poorly since the first game of the preseason. Barring injury, he will not get on the field in 2010.
Leon Washington, RB Wednesday 9/1, 9:43 AM CT
Leon Washington is expected to return kicks for the Seahawks this season, according to the Tacoma News Tribune.

Our View: Unfortunately, he's still expected to split snaps on offense with Justin Forsett and Julius Jones. Still, this does add a bit to his value in leagues that count for return yardage and touchdowns.
