Eagles OL Jean-Gilles carted off field Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Eagles offensive lineman Max Jean-Gilles
will need surgery to repair a fractured right ankle after being carted off the
field in the second quarter of Philadelphia's 48-20 thumping of the Arizona
Cardinals on Thursday night.
Jean-Gilles was blocking on a run by Donovan McNabb with 12 seconds remaining
in the half when Arizona defensive lineman Chike Okeafor rolled the back of
the lineman's right leg while diving for a stop of McNabb.
Head coach Andy Reid said after the game that he could have the surgery as
early as Friday.
The NY Daily News believes Donovan McNabb could land in Chicago if the Eagles don't bring him back.
Our View:Kyle Orton has been a favorable signal caller for the Bears this season, but he is not in the same class as McNabb, who would finally give the club a franchise starter at the position. McNabb was also born in the Chicago area.
When Eagles safety Brian Dawkins picked off his first pass of the season the other night, it was the 34th of his career, which tied him with Eric Allen and Bill Bradley for the most in franchise history, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Our View:Dawkins has been one of the best safeties of his generation, and arguably a Hall of Fame player, but that's for others to decide.
Eagles guard Shawn Andrews has returned to Philadelphia and will meet with the team's doctors, but he isn't likely to play again this year, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Our View:Andrews had complications from back surgery, and with Andrews and Max Jean-Gilles both out, they are down to their third-string guard.
