Michael Bush, RB Wednesday 9/8, 5:38 PM CT
Coach Tom Cable confirmed that Michael Bush (thumb) has a "real chance" to play week one, according to Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Bush is practicing with limited restrictions, and the only other option would be Darren McFadden, so obviously the team is hopeful he can go Sunday. Unfortunately, the injury is on Bush's dominant left hand, so he'd be forced to carry the ball in his right.
Michael Bush, RB Wednesday 9/8, 9:41 AM CT
The Contra Costa Times' Jerry McDonald does not believe Michael Bush (hand) will be able to play in Week 1.

Our View: When asked whether or not Bush would be able to play in Week 1, McDonald responded, "No. Not this soon after surgery." It sounds pretty clear that Bush will need at least another week or two before he sees the field.
Michael Bush, RB Monday 9/6, 3:50 PM CT
Michael Bush (hand) was in full pads and participated in most of the drills at the Raiders' practice today, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Vittorio Tafur.

Our View: Tafur also notes that the wrap on Bush's thumb looked smaller than it was last week. It sounds like his injury might not be as bad as originally reported. While his status for Week 1 remains up in the air, it sounds like he'll be back before long.
Michael Bush, RB Monday 9/6, 10:59 AM CT
Michael Bush went through agility drills yesterday, though his left hand was either casted or heavily wrapped to protect his thumb, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View: The Raiders will come out with their injury report on Wednesday, though we're tentatively going to guess that Bush is listed as doubtful. Darren McFadden is in line for the start.
Jared Veldheer, T Sunday 9/5, 12:19 PM CT
Rookie offensive linmean Jared Veldheer has earned the Raiders starting center job, according to Steve Corkran of the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View: This might not work out so well. Veldheer beat out four-year vet Samsom Satele, whom the Raiders traded for last season. Veldheer's just a rook, and at 6-foot-8, 315 pounds, he's much better suited to play tackle, the position at which he was drafted. However, coach Tom Cable said he liked the rookie's "consistency and upside," and it's hard to imagine this unit getting any worse.
Stevie Brown, S Sunday 9/5, 12:16 PM CT
The Raiders have waived rookie defensive back Stevie Brown, according to Steve Corkran of the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View: Reports are swirling that the decision to waive Brown was not a popular one around the Raiders organization. Apparently, nearly everyone wanted to get rid of second-year safety Mike Mitchell, but the man who drafted him, Al Davis, would have none of it. Still, Brown will likely latch onto the Raiders practice squad if he's not claimed off waivers.
Colt Brennan, QB Saturday 9/4, 4:11 PM CT
As expected, quarterback Colt Brennan has been released by the Raiders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: The Raiders are expected to try and stash him on their practice squad, but he will likely draw interest from many teams as a possible number three quarterback. Stay tuned.
Jason Campbell, QB Friday 9/3, 9:25 AM CT
Jason Campbell (neck, wrist) claims that he'll be ready for Oakland's season opener against Tennessee, according to the Contra Costa Times. "Right now, I can't talk about the injuries or anything," Campbell said, "but come the Tennessee game, I'll be ready."

Our View: This is good news for the Raiders offense. Still, we don't recommend starting Campbell for fantasy purposes, unless possibly you happen to be in a two-quarterback league.
Michael Bush, RB Thursday 9/2, 9:27 PM CT
According to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune, Michael Bush (thumb) could miss "up to a quarter of the season or more"

Our View: That's a lot worse than the other recent prognoses. Still, McDonald apparently talked to an orthopedist who believes that a 4-6 week timetable is a best case scenario. The Raiders aren't giving any hints, but it appears that Darren McFadden will open the season as the starter by default with Michael Bennett filling the No. 2 role.
Colt Brennan, QB Thursday 9/2, 2:31 PM CT
Colt Brennan will most likely get cut by the Raiders this weekend, according to the Contra Costa Times.

Our View: The brash University of Hawaii record setter simply does not have a strong enough arm to stick in the NFL. This could be the end for him.
Johnnie Lee Higgins, WR Thursday 9/2, 2:29 PM CT
According to the Contra Costa Times, Johnnie Lee Higgins is in danger of getting cut this weekend.

Our View: The owner of just 41 receptions the past two seasons, it's not as if he has a great pedigree to fall back on. Even with Chaz Schilens in injury limbo, Higgins seems likely to get cut.
