Cedric Griffin, CB Wednesday 9/8, 1:12 PM CT
Cedric Griffin (knee) is listed as questionable for the Vikings' game against the Saints on Thursday night, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Judd Zulgad.

Our View: The Vikings could really use him out there with Chris Cook out. Either way, they'll have a tough time stopping Drew Brees and gang.
Toby Gerhart, RB Wednesday 9/8, 1:11 PM CT
Toby Gerhart (knee) is listed as questionable for the Vikings' game against the Saints on Thursday night, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Judd Zulgad.

Our View: Albert Young will back up Adrian Peterson if Gerhart is unable to go. Still, we'd prefer Gerhart as the handcuff to Peterson entering the season.
Brett Favre, QB Tuesday 9/7, 2:53 PM CT
Brett Favre (ankle) was a full participant at the Vikings' practice for a second straight day, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune's Judd Zulgad.

Our View: Favre is still listed on Minnesota's injury report, but it's clear that he'll be starting against the Saints on Thursday. The Vikings may have to play catch up with the Saints' offense, which could cater nicely to Favre's fantasy stats.
Tarvaris Jackson, QB Tuesday 9/7, 11:10 AM CT
Tarvaris Jackson admits that he's thought about what it might be like to play elsewhere and get a chance to start, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: While he'd obviously love to start, he did still understanding in his role as Brett Favre's backup. There's no guarantee he'd get a chance to start elsewhere, anyway, and he could find himself into action this year if Favre's ankle doesn't hold up.
Brett Favre, QB Monday 9/6, 4:50 PM CT
Despite being listed on Minnesota's injury on Monday due to his gimpy ankle, Brett Favre was a full participant in Vikings practice, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View: He'll likely find himself there for all 16 of Minnesota's games this season, but consider him highly unlikely to miss one.
Percy Harvin, WR Monday 9/6, 4:46 PM CT
According to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, receiver Percy Harvin "expects to play plenty outside this season and not just be in the slot."

Our View: Meaning, he could be in line for more big plays than he reeled off in 2009. Despite his issues with migraine headaches, he should be an above average fantasy option at wideout this season.
Sidney Rice, WR Monday 9/6, 11:26 AM CT
Sidney Rice was at the Vikings' facility rehabbing his hip on Sunday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: He's on the PUP list, meaning he's out for at least the first six weeks of the season. He's determined to make it back soon after that, and he should probably be owned in most leagues with the idea that he could serve as a nice addition to your lineup down the stretch and into fantasy playoff time.
Percy Harvin, WR Monday 9/6, 11:24 AM CT
Percy Harvin (migraines) ran every play with the Vikings' first-team offense on Sunday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Harvin has expressed optimism about his new plan for dealing with his migraines, and he's expected to be at full strength for the season opener against the Saints on Thursday night. Don't be shocked if he misses a game or two this season, but for now, you can start him with confidence, especially in the absence of Sidney Rice.
Percy Harvin, WR Sunday 9/5, 7:14 PM CT
Percy Harvin will return kicks for the Vikings this season, according to ESPN Radio.

Our View: Harvin could also return punts at some point this season, though Bernard Berrian and Greg Camarillo will handle that role initially. Give Harvin a slight bump up your cheat sheet if your league counts points for return yardage and touchdowns.
Patrick Brown, T Sunday 9/5, 2:53 PM CT
The Jets claimed offensive tackle Patrick Brown off waivers from the Vikings Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: Ryan Cook's higher status as a loftier draft pick kept Brown from making the Vikings 53-man roster, so the kid's got talent. Look for New York to develop him behind RT Damien Woody.
John Sullivan, C Sunday 9/5, 1:17 PM CT
John Sullivan (calf) returned to Vikings practice Sunday, according to Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Sullivan jumped right back in with the first team, a possibly dark omen for the Vikings ground game. Still, he's questionable to start week one, and the matchup looks favorable for Adrian Peterson.
Tremaine Johnson, DE Sunday 9/5, 11:11 AM CT
Defensive tackle Tremaine Johnson has cleared waivers, according to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 Twin Cities.

Our View: He was quickly re-signed by the Vikes and assigned to the practice squad. He's got almost no shot at making the active roster if he hangs around long enough, and no one really seemed interested in claiming him.
Javon Walker, WR Saturday 9/4, 4:51 PM CT
Always considered a long-shot to make the team, veteran receiver Javon Walker has been cut by the Vikings, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View: Brett Favre tried to force some chemistry with him, but it was clear he had little left. His NFL career is likely over with the move.
Darius Reynaud, WR Friday 9/3, 8:38 PM CT
In a surprising move out of Minnesota, receiver Darius Reynaud has been sent to the Giants as part of the Sage Rosenfels deal, according to Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View: Very peculiar, as receiver is obviously a thin position for the Vikings heading into 2010, and Reynaud was expected to often spell Percy Harvin on punt returns. Joining a very crowded Giants receiving corps, he should be a non-factor this year. That being said, he may also end up fielding some punts in the Big Apple.
Sage Rosenfels, QB Friday 9/3, 8:05 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Sage Rosenfels has indeed been traded to the New York Giants, where he will back-up Eli Manning, according to Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. In exchange, Minnesota is receiving a future conditional draft pick.

Our View: After Jim Sorgi injured his shoulder this preseason, New York was forced to go with Rhett Bomar as its back-up. Clearly not comfortable with someone so green being one snap away from the field, they've gone out and gotten a huge upgrade.
Sage Rosenfels, QB Friday 9/3, 7:44 PM CT
According to Fox Sports' Alex Marvez, the Vikings have traded quarterback Sage Rosenfels to the Giants.

Our View: Details are scarce at the moment, but Rosenfels would obviously represent a huge upgrade over current Giants back-up Rhett Bomar. Stay tuned.
Tarvaris Jackson, QB Thursday 9/2, 9:30 PM CT
Tarvaris Jackson floundered through a 2-of-8 afternoon in Minnesota's preseason finale Thursday.

Our View: Jackson's now 12-of-26 for 60 yards this season, a far cry from the 31-for-51 for 402 yards that No. 3 quarterback Sage Rosenfels has managed. Still, T-Jack will enter the season as the backup, and it looks like Brett Favre's return has really gotten to him.
Chris DeGeare, G Wednesday 9/1, 8:40 PM CT
According to ESPN 1500 Twin Cities, the Vikings are considering starting rookie Chris DeGeare at right guard.

Our View: Under this scenario, the Vikes would shift veteran Anthony Herrera to center. That'd be a huge upgrade over current pivot John Sullivan, and just about any change would be welcome considering how bad the team run blocked last season. DeGeare's got great size at 335 pounds, and this could be the move the team needs to keep the ground game churning and Brett Favre somewhat healthy.
