Timon Marshall, WR Thursday 7/24, 11:43 PM CT
The Chiefs have signed Timon Marshall to a two-year deal, according to NFL.com. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: The Chiefs are thin at receiver and Marshall could have a shot to make the final roster, but won't likely make a fantasy impact if he does.
Glenn Dorsey, DT Thursday 7/24, 9:41 PM CT
Glenn Dorsey and the Chiefs are not yet close to reaching a deal, according to the Kansas City Star. Contract talks have been temporarily suspended, as indicated by team president Carl Peterson.

Our View: Dorsey, who was selected fifth overall, is the highest unsigned draft pick. He was expected to shore up the Chiefs defensive line in the middle this season, but he is missing valuable practice time while he remains unsigned.
Branden Albert, OG/OT Thursday 7/24, 10:07 AM CT
Branden Albert, the No. 15 overall pick, reached an agreement with the Chiefs on a five-year contract.

Our View: Albert could start immediately for an offensive line in need. He has plenty of ability but shouldn't be expected to excel right away.
Brandon Flowers, CB Wednesday 7/23, 3:20 PM CT
The Chiefs inked second-round pick Brandon Flowers (Virginia Tech) to a four-year deal, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: He is a very aggressive and physical cornerback and is projected to start for the Chiefs as a rookie. He should make some big plays this season and rack up a favorable amount of tackles, making him worthy of a late round selection in IDP drafts.
Brad Cottam, TE Monday 7/21, 11:59 AM CT
Third-round pick tight end Brad Cottam and the Chiefs have agreed on a three-year contract, according to KCchiefs.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View: Cottam will compete for playing time behind veteran Tony Gonzalez.
Jamaal Charles, RB Monday 7/21, 11:56 AM CT
The Chiefs and third-round pick running back Jamaal Charles have agreed on a three-year contract, according to KCchiefs.com. Terms of the agreement were not made available.

Our View: Charles will now compete for a spot as Larry Johnson's primary backup.
Greg Wesley, S Sunday 7/20, 12:54 PM CT
Greg Wesley, who was recently released by the Chiefs, was set to visit the Raiders on Sunday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: Former Giants' star Gibril Wilson and Michael Huff are projected to start at the two safety spots, but Wesley would be able to crack the rotation in Oakland with only Jarrod Cooper and Hiram Eugene to challenge on the roster.
DaJuan Morgan, S Friday 7/18, 2:13 PM CT
Third-round pick DaJuan Morgan (North Carolina State) signed a three-year deal with the Chiefs, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View: Morgan is a solid well-rounded safety who can play either spot at the position. He should work as a backup as a rookie, but could challenge for a starting spot, likely as soon as 2009.
Greg Wesley, S Thursday 7/17, 3:24 PM CT
The Kansas City Chiefs have released free safety Greg Wesley, according to Profootballtalk.com.

Our View: Wesley played in 15 games last season, accumulating 30 tackles.
Brian Johnston, DE Wednesday 7/16, 12:17 PM CT
Seventh-round pick Brian Johnston and the Chiefs have agreed to terms on a three-year contract, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Johnston will attempt to win a backup spot on the defensive line but could be practice squad-bound.
Kevin Robinson, WR Wednesday 7/16, 12:01 PM CT
The Chiefs have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with sixth-round pick wide receiver Kevin Robinson , according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View: Robinson will compete for a roster spot but won't be making a dent on any fantasy rosters this year.
Eddie Kennison, WR Friday 7/11, 2:30 PM CT
Former Kansas City wide receiver Eddie Kennison is still waiting on a return call from Tampa Bay. Kennison, who was hindered by a torn hamstring last year, worked out for the Buccaneers last month, but has yet to receive a training camp invite, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View: Kennison’s reception, yardage and touchdown totals have taken a nosedive in each of the past three seasons. At this stage, even if he latches on in Tampa Bay, his fantasy value is extremely diminished.
Damon Huard, QB Friday 7/11, 10:06 AM CT
Despite rumors that the Kansas City Chiefs might release quarterback Damon Huard prior to the season, Pro Football Weekly believes he’s a virtual lock to make the final roster.

Our View: The team’s other two quarterbacks, Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen, come with very little experience, so Kansas City will likely be forced to retain Huard as a safety net.
Tony Gonzalez, TE Monday 7/7, 5:19 PM CT
The Sporting News reports that Tony Gonzalez helped a choking man on Thursday, possibly saving his life. Gonzalez was dining in Huntington Beach, Calif., when across the room a fellow diner, Ken Hunter, began to choke on a bite of steak. Gonzalez performed the Heimlich maneuver and cleared the passage way for the man to breath. "I just did what my natural instincts told me to do, help someone in need. I couldn't just sit there and do nothing. The man was in distress and he needed help quickly."

Our View: The report noted that Hunter will be "forever grateful" and will now be rooting for Gonzalez and his team in the upcoming season. Hunter is a Chargers fan. Mr. Hunter won't have much to cheer about as a Tony Gonzo and Kansas City Chiefs fan... on the other hand the Chargers are Super Bowl contenders.
Derrick Johnson, LB Thursday 7/3, 12:18 PM CT
With Jared Allen now in Minnesota, the Chiefs need to somehow generate pressure on the quarterback, and will look to send Derrick Johnson on blitzes to help fill that void, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Johnson was already an attractive option in fantasy IDP leagues, and this news raises his stock even higher.
