Cowboys CB Newman sidelined after hernia surgery Irving, TX (Sports Network) - Dallas Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman will
likely be sidelined for at least a month after undergoing surgery for a sports
hernia.
The team's website said the procedure was performed Friday in Durham, North
Carolina.
Newman, who could be sidelined for as long as six weeks, missed last Sunday's
game against Cincinnati with what was originally thought to be an abdominal
strain. He had a groin problem in training camp and missed the entire
preseason before also sitting out the season-opener against Cleveland.
The Cowboys expect to have an update regarding running back Felix Jones on Monday, the Dallas Morning News reports. He suffered a strained left hamstring in Week 6.
Our View:The speedy rookie has dazzled early in the season. The Cowboys offense and fantasy teams don't necessarily need him, but Jones doesn't bring an extra giddy-up to the Dallas attack.
Quarterback Tony Romo sprained his right pinkie finger during the Week 6 loss to the Cardinals, the Dallas Morning News notes.
Our View:Oh! Gosh, do you think he'll be okay?! We're joking, of course. We'll update Romo's status once more is known, but we doubt this ailment will hold him back in Week 7.
