Player Notes
J.D. Runnels, RB Thursday 7/24, 6:35 PM CT
J.D. Runnels has been waived by the Bears, according to the Daily Herald.

Our View:Runnels has good blocking skills as a fullback, but was not going to play a role with the Bears in 2008.
Chris Williams, OT Thursday 7/24, 4:44 PM CT
First-round pick Chris Williams, who signed with the Bears on Wednesday, has left Thursday's practice with a stiff back, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He left the field during a one-on-one pass rushing drill. Coach Lovie Smith commented, "We'll always err in favor of the players, but it was to the point where he couldn't practice. When I say there is some stiffness, I don't know exactly how much, but he couldn't practice. The guys know there's a difference between pain and injury. It seems like his was more of an injury."

Our View:Williams is expected to play a key factor in the Bears' offense this season, as he is slated to start at left tackle, allowing John Tait to man the right side, where he is best suited. We will keep you posted regarding the severity of Williams' ailment.
Kevin Jones, RB Thursday 7/24, 2:55 PM CT
The Chicago Tribune reports that although newly signed running back Kevin Jones is on the physically unable to perform list, he's been on a side field doing light running as his right knee continues to heal.

Our View:Jones had surgery on his ACL last winter. We hope his stint on the PUP list is a short one so that the Bears can start taking steps to naming their starting running back. He is competing with incumbent Adrian Peterson and rookie Matt Forte for the job.
