Larry Fitzgerald, WR Wednesday 9/8, 4:37 PM CT
According to Brian Stull of ESPN 101, Larry Fitzgerald (knee) should be ready to go week one.

Our View: Stull was on a conference call with coach Ken Whisenhunt Wednesday, and apparently "Fitz should be good to go." He's been out of a majority of the preseason dealing with the issue, but he remains a top fantasy option that carries the risk of playing with Derek Anderson.
Chris Wells, RB Wednesday 9/8, 3:47 PM CT
Chris Wells (knee) didn't practice on Wednesday, though head coach Ken Whisenhunt still expects Wells to play on Sunday, according to AzCardinals.com's Darren Urban.

Our View: If Whisenhunt thinks Beanie will play, so do we. Expect him to split the snaps at halfback somewhat evenly with Tim Hightower.
Chris Wells, RB Monday 9/6, 3:53 PM CT
Chris Wells is not yet back to 100 percent health after tweaking his knee against the Redskins in the final preseason game on Thursday, according to the Arizona Republic's Kent Somers.

Our View: The Cardinals will proceed with caution with Wells this week. He's still expected to be active in Week 1 and should see at least half the snaps at halfback, with the other portion going to Tim Hightower.
Max Hall, QB Saturday 9/4, 8:46 PM CT
According to Pro Football Talk, the Cardinals believe Max Hall was "the best of (their) four quarterbacks" in training camp.

Our View: A rookie out of BYU, he is Derek Anderson's primary back-up. As far as players that are good to back-up, Anderson is near the top of the list, as he seems highly unlikely to merit a starting job for all 16 games in 2010.
Max Hall, QB Friday 9/3, 10:44 PM CT
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it is "apparent" that rookie Max Hall will serve as Derek Anderson's back-up in 2010.

Our View: Just one year removed from a huge season at BYU, Hall is an intriguing, if extremely raw, prospect. Although he may one day be a great NFL quarterback, you can't say he is a better option than Matt Leinart.
Matt Leinart, QB Friday 9/3, 6:26 PM CT
Seconding the opinion of Sports Illustrated's Peter King, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic believes Matt Leinart will be gone from the Cardinals by Sunday.

Our View: Either via release or trade. What once seemed like it would be a promising season for Leinart has turned into a nightmare. It's looking increasingly less likely that he will ever get a chance to prove himself as an NFL starter.
Matt Leinart, QB Friday 9/3, 6:07 PM CT
Although he has yet to be traded or released, Matt Leinart will not be with the Arizona Cardinals this season, according to Sports Illustrated's Peter King.

Our View: King doesn't profess to have any inside information on the matter, but is probably the most well-connected NFL journalist there is, so if he says Leinart won't be in Arizona this season, then he almost certainly will not.
Larry Fitzgerald, WR Friday 9/3, 5:56 PM CT
According to NFL.com's Darren Urban, Larry Fitzgerald (knee) remains "on schedule" to play in Week 1.

Our View: As has been expected all along. Derek Anderson, and not his knee, is Fitzgerald's biggest problem heading into 2010.
Cody Brown, LB Friday 9/3, 4:11 PM CT
The Cardinals have cut 2009 second round pick Cody Brown, according to NFL.com.

Our View: He missed all of his rookie season with a "rare" wrist injury, and simply wasn't impressive enough to make the team this summer. He seems unlikely to ever be a meaningful contributor in the NFL.
Matt Leinart, QB Friday 9/3, 2:47 PM CT
Matt Leinart is no longer opting to be dealt from Arizona, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Our View: Leinart will not open the season as Arizona's starter, though he wouldn't have anywhere else, either. Leinart apparently believes that staying in Arizona gives him the best chance to start this season, and we believe so too, given that Derek Anderson is one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league.
Derek Anderson, QB Thursday 9/2, 9:50 PM CT
Derek Anderson started Arizona's preseason finale Thursday, completing 2-of-3 passes for 47 yards.

Our View: As expected, the Cardinals treated Anderson like the clear-cut starter, and he was pulled after the first series. Matt Leinart came on in relief, but neither quarterback appears to be worthy of a draft pick in re-draft leagues.
Matt Leinart, QB Thursday 9/2, 7:09 PM CT
According to Len Pasquarelli of the Sports XChange, the Cardinals have given Matt Leinart permission to seek a trade.

Our View: It's just a technical move that comes on the heels of a few others intended to move the disgruntled QB out of town. Leinart's got no future in the desert, and unfortunately he probably has no future as a starter anywhere else. The interest in the former No. 10 overall pick has been non-existent.
Matt Leinart, QB Thursday 9/2, 1:06 PM CT
According to the Denver Post, the Raiders have no interest in adding embattled Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart.

Our View: Happy with their trio of Jason Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski and Kyle Boller, they have little reason to pursue Leinart. Amazingly, Leinart could soon find himself in a similar situation to former Raiders signal-caller JaMarcus Russell: out of the league.
Matt Leinart, QB Thursday 9/2, 11:28 AM CT
According to the Arizona Republic, Matt Leinart could be traded or released by Saturday.

Our View: The club is apparently still considering keeping him as Derek Anderson's back-up. What they are no longer considering is naming him the starter, however. What little fantasy value he had is now completely gone.
Darnell Dockett, DE Wednesday 9/1, 6:08 PM CT
Updating an earlier item, Darnell Dockett's extension with the Cardinals is worth up to $48 million over four years with $30 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: Dockett's deal keeps him in Arizona through 2015. He said earlier today that he'd like to retire with the Cardinals and believes in the direction the franchise is headed. He'd outplayed his old contract, and the new one should keep him happy.
Darnell Dockett, DE Wednesday 9/1, 5:41 PM CT
According to Pro Football Talk, Darnell Dockett has agreed to a four-year extension with the Cardinals.

Our View: Financial terms were not released, but this deal will keep Dockett in Arizona through the 2015 season. He's been a Pro-Bowler over the past two seasons, and he was due a bigger deal. This also means that press conference scheduled for later today might not have anything to do with Matt Leinart.
Matt Leinart, QB Wednesday 9/1, 2:58 PM CT
There has been a rumor that has surfaced claiming that Matt Leinart has been dealt to the Giants, though Fox Sports' Jay Glazer refutes the rumor.

Our View: The Giants are looking for a backup now that Jim Sorgi has been lost for the season, though they're looking for a veteran who's fine with a backup role, and Leinart doesn't seem to fit that bill. We'll have to wait and see how this Leinart drama play out, though no deal is imminent.
Matt Leinart, QB Wednesday 9/1, 10:16 AM CT
Whether he sticks in Arizona or is dealt elsewhere, Matt Leinart has made it clear that he wants to be a starting quarterback, according to SI.com.

Our View: We don't blame Leinart, given that he's done his time behind Kurt Warner for the past few seasons and has outplayed Derek Anderson in the preseason this year. Still, life isn't always fair, and as it stands right now, it appears that he and coach Ken Whisenhunt are at odds, and that regardless of whether or not he's dealt, he'll probably open the season as a backup.
Matt Leinart, QB Wednesday 9/1, 8:33 AM CT
The Bills, Raiders and Giants have discussed trading for Matt Leinart, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View: We'll have to wait and see if any of these team's pulls the trigger. Arizona remains the best fit for his fantasy value, but of course only if he's starting, which for now appears like it won't be the case to open the season. Buffalo would probably be his best bet to earn a starting job.
