Tiki Barber publicly complained about the Giants game plan in Monday at Jacksonville, something that apparently didn't sit well with head coach Tom Coughlin, Newsday reports. The day after that game, Coughlin read out the fine schedule for conduct detrimental to the team in front of his players, a reminder that speaking out against the coaching staff could result in financial punishment. Barber had just 10 carries for 27 yards in the Monday loss; look for him to get a lot more work Sunday at Tennessee.

Tiki Barber was not a factor in Monday's loss at Jacksonville, finishing with just 37 total yards. It's possible Barber's thumb could have been an issue on one or two passes that he almost caught but couldn't secure; he ended the night with one reception for 13 yards, in addition to his 10 carries for 27 yards.

Tiki Barber practiced cautiously with a cast on his injured right thumb Thursday, but insisted he will be able to play in Jacksonville Monday night, the New York Daily News reports. "We had two days off and I'm not worried about it," Barber said. "I played most of the game (with it) against the Bears, so it's not something that's entered my consciousness. It feels OK. I have a ridiculous pain tolerance and I'm not taking any medication for it." Keep in mind Barber isn't even listed on the injury report, an encouraging sign.
November 13, 2006
Tiki Barber injured his thumb in the first quarter last night, though he played through the injury and racked up 141 yards on 19 carries, according to the New York Daily News. "It's a sprain ... that I know of," said coach Tom Coughlin about the injury following the game.

Barber conceded that the decision wasn't 100 percent, but he added that there was "nothing" that would change his mind. "I'm a diverse person," Barber said. "I have a lot of interests, and at some point it's time to execute a plan that's been in place for me for about seven and a half, eight years."

Barber did not elaborate on what job he is seeking after football, but he admitted that he got a few offers that interested him this past summer. "I know that I have a focus and when camp starts, I shift to this (football)," Barber added. "What I do in my offseason is my business even though it is in the public eye. I'm excited for new challenges in my life and we'll see what happens with this season, and possibly next." Barber is coming off of four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
