Michael Strahan has turned down the Giants and decided to stay retired, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer. The Giants were hoping Strahan would come back to replace the injured Osi Umenyiora. "This has been one of the toughest nights of my life," Strahan said from Greece. "But after long deliberation and throwing around a million scenarios in my head for the past day, I think it's just best if I stay retired."

Our View:Too bad for the G-Men. The team now hopes Justin Tuck can anchor the line and Mathias Kiwanuka can hold down the other end spot.

The Giants have reportedly begun contract negotiations with recently retired Michael Strahan, according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:An undisclosed team official in the Giants' organization called Strahan. The talks are in the early stages and it’s not clear when Strahan will talk with the Giants again.

Following the loss of Osi Umenyiora for the season, Michael Strahan said he would come out of retirement for $8 million, according to the NY Daily News. He was vacationing in Greece when Umenyiora went down over the weekend. Along with the $8 million, Strahan would like "a few kind words" from the team for him to consider coming back.

Our View:Strahan has a favorable broadcasting deal with Fox waiting for him, but we may not have seen the last of No. 92 in New York.

With Osi Umenyiora going down injured and the team Giants worried about the potential effects on their defense, local reports indicate the team might consider making a call to retired Michael Strahan, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:It is just a rumor at this time, and more than anything, it would seem more a hope than a fact. However, it is not out of the realm of possibility and, if the price is right, the veteran sack master could return.

Michael Strahan will join the Fox Sunday pregame show as an analyst in 2008, according to SI.com.

Our View:This news further confirms that the seven-time Pro Bowler will remain retired and not return to the NFL.
