Confirming previous reports, the Patriots have indeed signed Patrick Chung, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:For now, Chung is not worth knowing to IDP-league owners. He could, however, challenge James Sanders for the starting gig at free safety with a strong training camp, so how both men fare this offseason is worth monitoring.

The Boston Globe is reporting that Patriots' first pick Patrick Chung has reported to the team's camp on the rookie reporting day. Although a report has not been released, sources believe Chung has signed a deal with the team.

Our View:Since Chung reported today, it is widely believed that he or his agent have agreed to a deal. Expect an announcement soon, but it looks like Chung will be ready to go when camp officially opens.

Patrick Chung is not expected to start at safety in his rookie campaign, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Brandon Meriweather is expected to start at strong safety, with Chung the top backup. James Sanders is also expected to start at free safety. When Chung is ready to start at strong safety, Meriweather will shift to free safety.

Oregon secondary coach John Neal praised former pupil Patrick Chung, according to the Boston Globe. Neal said, "He absolutely loves football. He is a football junkie. I am not sure I have ever seen anybody who loves football more in my whole career at any level. He loves practices, loves lifting, loves games."

Our View:The Patriots pulled Chung off the board in the second-round of the NFL Draft. Chung is a hard-hitter who loves to blitz and lead the defense, and should compete for the starting gig at strong safety in training camp.

The New England Patriots selected Oregon safety Patrick Chung in the second round with the 34th overall pick in the 2009 NFL draft.

Our View:Chung is a tough, hard-hitting safety who has the skill set to be an enforcer in the Patriots secondary. He will likely compete with Brandon Meriweather for the starting strong safety role in what should be an epic traning-camp battle.
