Colts.com reports that Adam Vinatieri has undergone a surgical procedure to relieve lingering discomfort in his right hip.

Our View:It is not expected that he will miss any of regular season. While not the premier fantasy kicker he once was, Vinatieri, kicking in the indoor Lucas Oil Stadium, is still a viable option for 2009.

NoOffseason.com is reporting that Adam Vinatieri could miss the season opener as he needs an undisclosed surgery.

Our View:Another source, including the Colts, are yet to confirm this news. We will keep you posted on Vinatieri's status.

Adam Vinatieri picked up his 22nd career game-winning field goal in the fourth quarter or overtime on Sunday, lifting the Colts to a 23-20 win over the Chargers. The winning kick was a 51-yarder. He also had a 23-yard field goal and a 38-yard field goal with two extra points.

Our View:Vinatieri continues to be a solid kicker in the NFL. He has only missed three field goals this season and just one attempt under 40 yards.

Coach Tony Dungy was shocked when Adam Vinatieri missed a short field goal attempt Sunday against Minensota but was confident he was going to make the game-winner, according to the Indianapolis Star. Dungy said, "There was no doubt in anybody's mind on our sideline that he was going to make the game-winner. If it had been 55 yards, he would have made that."

Our View:His field goal was good from 47 yards and pulled the Colts ahead 18-15 with three seconds left in the fourth quarter. Vinatieri may not be as accurate as he once was, but remains among the best clutch kickers.
