Kevin Smith is reconsidering shoulder surgery, and is seeking more medical opinions, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Smith may opt for natural rehab on his shoulder. He is already expected to start training camp on the PUP list due to the torn ACL in his left knee.

Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan expects Kevin Smith (knee, shoulder) to be healthy by Detroit's season opener next year, according to NFL.com. "I'm sure he will (return)," Linehan said of Smith. "He's a young guy, he'll keep working. He's got a couple injuries he played through (last year), so he's tough. We're planning on him being back."

Our View:Keep in mind, however, that this is mere speculation by Linehan, and that Smith hasn't even undergone shoulder surgery yet as he continues to recover from knee surgery. Still, it can't hurt to hear reports like this out of Detroit's camp, and it remains to be seen whether they'll look to add a feature back in Smith's place this offseason.

Kevin Smith has yet to undergo shoulder surgery, according to the Detroit News.

Our View:Smith is still recovering from knee surgery, but the longer he waits to get his shoulder repaired, the more likely it becomes that he won't be ready by the start of training camp, and possibly the opening of the 2010 season. His status as Detroit's feature back is very much up in the air.

Just a few weeks after having surgery on his torn ACL, Kevin Smith will soon have his injured shoulder operated on, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Reports have abounded in recent days that Smith will no longer be Detroit's feature back next season. Now soon to be coming off of two surgeries, he has to hope he is healthy enough to even compete for the job next summer.

Kevin Smith's tenure as the Lions' starting running back is most likely over, according to MLive.com.

Our View:Smith averaged just 3.4 yards per carry during his sophomore NFL campaign, and the team is said to like him better as a back-up. It's unclear whom they might target this offseason to take his starting job, though Willis McGahee immediately comes to mind.
