Andre Caldwell, who is recovering from a foot injury, is working out this week, but is not expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:The rookie would hold no fantasy value this week anyway. He has participated as a return man on special teams, but is yet to record his first reception.
October 22, 2008
Andre Caldwell has been officially ruled out for Week 8, according to CBSsportsline.com.

Our View:Caldwell has no fantasy value as a receiver but was returning kicks for the Bengals. With Caldwell out Glen Holt will take over the kick off return duties.
October 20, 2008
Andre Caldwell is expected to miss a few games while recovering from a stress fracture in his foot, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:He played Sunday and admirably averaged 29.3 yards on three kick returns. Glenn Holt will be ready to retain his duties as a return man this weekend against Houston after dealing with an ankle ailment.
October 20, 2008
Andre Caldwell replaced the injured Glenn Holt (ankle) as a return man on kickoffs Sunday, and fared well as he racked up 88 yards over three returns, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:That is good that he served a purpose Sunday, as the rookie receiver is still yet to register his first NFL reception.

It is possible that Bengals third-round draft pick, wideout Andre Caldwell, could play in his first game and be the team's kick returner, according to Bengals.com.

Our View:The team's regular returner, Glenn Holt, has an injured ankle, which is why the kick returning duties would go to Caldwell. He would remain unworthy of fantasy consideration even if he does play.

Week 2 inactives: WR Andre Caldwell, DT Jason Shirley, QB Jordan Palmer, SS Dexter Jackson, FB Reagan Mauia, S Herana Daze-Jones, G Frank Davis, and DT Pat Sims.

Our View:No major surprises on this list. The biggest name is strong safety Dexter Jackson, who was previously listed OUT on the injury report due to a thumb injury. He will be replaced in the lineup by Nedu Ndukwe.
September 8, 2008
Andre Caldwell was listed as doubtful with a toe injury, and was ultimately unable to play in Sunday's opener against the Ravens, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:He was not likely going to make a memorable debut against an intimidating Ravens' defense.
September 5, 2008
Andre Caldwell's status for this weekends' game is still unknown but he was working on the sidelines during practice with a Bengals' strength coach.
August 20, 2008
Andre Caldwell remains unable to practice while nursing a sprained foot, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:He has been competing for the No. 3 role at receiver, but Chris Henry should now lock up the job after rejoining the team.
August 18, 2008
Andre Caldwell was on crutches and sporting a walking boot following the Bengals' preseason game Sunday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He has a sprained foot.

Our View:Caldwell is competing with Antonio Chatman, Glenn Holt, Marcus Maxwell, and fellow rookie Jerome Simpson for the No. 3 role at receiver, and cannot afford to miss time with the injury.
August 10, 2008
Andre Caldwell is among five receivers battling for the number three role at wide receiver with the Bengals, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Caldwell is a good blocker and willing to work on special teams, but looks slow and hesitant on pass routes while still learning the offense. He said, "I'm learning the defenses are a lot more complex, so I'm picking them up. We run our routes a little different here."

Our View:He is competing with Antonio Chatman, Glenn Holt, Marcus Maxwell, and fellow rookie Jerome Simpson, who was taken one round ahead of Caldwell in the draft. Chatman could have the edge for the job as he is the most experienced, but has been hindered by poor durability during his time in Cincinnati.

Andre Caldwell and the Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to a four-year deal. The University of Florida standout is expected to be brought along slowly in a deep wide receiver corps.

Our View:Don't count on Caldwell this season. However, the Bengals wide receiver unit could be shaken up within the coming seasons and Caldwell may get a shot one day.
July 23, 2008
Bengals' offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski expects rookie Andre Caldwell (Florida) to be brought along slowly this season, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:The offense is going to rely on veterans, with Antonio Chatman and Marcus Maxwell slated for the top backup spots behind starters Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmandzadeh. Caldwell's fantasy impact looks to be limited, which is a common case with rookie receivers, but he should still make the highlight reel a few times, as he was projected as a first-round talent.

Coastal Carolina wide receiver Jerome Simpson was drafted in the second round, No. 46 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals - 51 spots ahead of fellow rookie Andre Caldwell of Florida. But quarterback Carson Palmer sees a more pro-ready receiver in Caldwell than the small-school Simpson, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View:This is to be expected. Simpson is considered raw, given the fact he played his college ball at a small school. On the flip side, Caldwell performed on the big stage of the SEC, preparing him much better for the rigors of the NFL. The team likes Marcus Maxwell, and it appears that Caldwell could be ready to compete for the No. 3 role.
