After struggling early in camp and being portrayed as somewhat of a clown on HBO's Hard Knocks, Cowboys tight end and second-round draft pick Martellus Bennett is coming around and starting to play much better, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Bennett did not have a good camp early, but he has been making plays, and the Cowboys are looking for ways to get him on the field. His fantasy prospects are still suspect, but with the Cowboys down to two reliable receivers not that Sam Hurd is injured, Bennett could see more playing time with Jason Witten lined up as the de facto number three guy.

It has not been an easy training camp for Cowboys second-round pick tight end Martellus Bennett, and Jason Witten is trying to teach Bennett to get his act together, according to the Dallas Morning News. Bennett told the paper that Witten offered this response when asked for help early in camp, "I'm not going to be [beep] doing this all the [beep] time. You've got to know what the [beep] to do."

Our View:Bennett has come across as having little fire for the game of football, and has been someone the HBO program "Hard Knocks" has been focusing on as he has struggled. Bennett clearly has a long way to go, and holds no fantasy value at the moment.

Martellus Bennett has impressed the Cowboys' coaching staff, namely in the area of blocking, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:If Bennett is effective as a blocker, he would see the field more, and would allow Jason Witten to line up on the outside as a receiver at times.

The 61st overall pick, tight end Martellus Bennett, and the Cowboys have come to terms on a four-year contract.

Our View:Bennett will not see much time on the field but could be No. 2 on depth chart behind Jason Witten. He stuggled in OTAs earlier this summer.

Martellus Bennett is having a difficult time early in his transition to the NFL, according to Dallas Morning News reporter Jean Jacques-Taylor.

Our View:Bennett has a lot of talent, and it would greatly help the Cowboys if he could become a key piece of certain packages, allowing Jason Witten to play even more of a receiver role considering Dallas' depth problems at that position.

Rookie tight end Martellus Bennett praised Jason Witten, who is going to be his mentor in Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News. Bennett said, "He's a technician. A lot of the stuff, he tries to be perfect with everything he does. That's one thing I've noticed about how he practices and his approach to practice and the tempo he goes at every day. He's a hard worker. It's fun to work with a guy like that."

Our View:Bennett will replace Anthony Fasano as the Cowboys' number two tight end. He is athletic with strong receiving skills and runs smooth routes. If he can develop quickly, then Witten could be moved around to serve time on the outside in the number two receiver spot, which looks to be an area of need if Terry Glenn does not return to the field. Patrick Crayton is not a vertical threat on the outside and is best suited for the slot.

Rookie tight end Martellus Bennett (Texas A&M) is having trouble learning the Cowboys' playbook, according to the Dallas Morning News. The team drafted him to make an impact immediately, and let Athony Fasano depart for Miami.

Our View:Tony Curtis is working as the number two tight end behind starter Jason Witten, due to Bennett's struggles with the playbook. Bennett has good hands, runs smooth routes, runs hard after the catch, and is a decent blocker, with a chance to be strong. It looks he will need a season or two before he can make an impact in Dallas.
