December 27, 2008
Bills rookie wideout James Hardy has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, accoridng to TSN.com.

Our View:Of course, the season is over after Sunday anyway, so Hardy will just miss the one game with a torn ACL.
December 21, 2008
Bills inactives: QB J.P. Losman (3rd), CB Jabari Greer, LB Teddy Lehman, T Jason Peters, T Demetrius Bell, T Jonathan Scott, WR James Hardy, TE Jonathan Stupar.

Our View:Trent Edwards (groin) and Marshawn Lynch (shoulder) are active and will start. Roscoe Parrish (knee) is active and will play in multiple receiver sets.
December 15, 2008
James Hardy will be placed on injured reserve after tearing the ACL in his left knee in Sunday's tough loss to the Jets, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Hardy failed to make much of an impact in his debut campaign with only nine receptions for 87 yards and two scores.
December 14, 2008
Wide receiver James Hardy was carted off the field during the first half of the Week 15 game against the Jets. He appeared to injure his left knee.

Our View:The rookie wideout hasn't helped fantasy teams this year, but we hope this isn't a long-term injury.
November 21, 2008
The Buffalo News reports that seventh-round selection wide receiver Stevie Johnson has surpassed second-round pick James Hardy on the team's depth chart.

Our View:Johnson started on Monday and his performance makes Hardy's fantasy value negligible. If you are still holding onto him, it's time to let go.
November 17, 2008
James Hardy will play in Week 11's game against the Browns as he is not listed on the team's injury report.

Our View:The rookie's impact may be limited as it has been most of the season. He has just nine catches in nine games, but two have gone for touchdowns.
November 12, 2008
Receiver James Hardy did not practice Wednesday because of an injured hip, according to the AP.

Our View:Hardy had his second career touchdown Week 10 against the Patriots but doesn't have any fantasy value.
November 9, 2008
Wide receiver James Hardy caught two passes for 21 yards and a touchdown in the Week 10 loss to the Patriots.

Our View:It's nice to see the tall rookie make an impact play. He still looks lost at times, and we don't expect consistently good play until next season.
October 25, 2008
Rookie wideout James Hardy has been very slow to develop for the Bills, which has led to a lack of opportunities, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:Hardy has just five catches for a measly 47 yards and one touchdown on the year. A viable fantasy option he is not.
September 25, 2008
Bills rookie wide receiver James Hardy will likely see more snaps in the team's Week 4 game against the Rams because of Roscoe Parrish's injury, according to the Buffalo News.

Our View:Hardy has just two catches on the season, though one of them did go for a game-winning touchdown. He is a decent option in deep leagues this week because of the putrid Rams pass defense, though it is likely they will take an early lead and simply hand off to Marshawn Lynch much of the contest.
September 15, 2008
James Hardy only participated in seven plays in his NFL debut in Week 1, but saw more action in Sunday's close win over the Jaguars, according to the Rochester Democrat.

Our View:Hardy fared well, and notably scored the game-winning touchdown on a corner route to the back of the right pylon. Hardy should gradually get more involved with each passing week, until he ultimately unseats Josh Reed as a starter. Hardy is worth targeting as a deep reserve.
August 28, 2008
James Hardy indicated that his previously ailing hamstring feels fine and he is ready to play tonight in the Bills' preseason finale against the Lions, according to the Buffalo News. He said, "I just want to come in and get the feel for it heading into the regular season."

Our View:He believes he is also ready to jump back into the rhythm of the offense and will be prepared for the regular season opener against Seattle. He has a shot to start at some point this season, if not right away, and is worth a look as a deep reserve in fantasy drafts.
August 22, 2008
James Hardy is expected to miss the Bills' third preseason game due to his ailing hamstring, according to Bills.com.

Our View:He was unable to practice all week due to the injury, and will miss crucial playing time in the third game, which is viewed as a primer for the regular season. He should share playing time with Josh Reed at the starting spot opposite Lee Evans at the beginning of the season, hence limiting his fantasy potential.
August 17, 2008
The Bills report rookie wideout James Hardy continues to battle discomfort in his hamstring, according to the team's official website. He was excused from practice today as a result and will be monitored moving forward.

Our View:Coach Dick Jauron said the hamstring was a bit sore going into the game against Pittsburgh, but Hardy insisted on playing and, as he has all training camp long, he ran routes well and was a high point for the Bills in that game. That is one good sign for fantasy owners: The hammy is a concern, but Hardy will play hurt and put his best foot forward regardless.
August 7, 2008
Buffalo Bills second-round pick, wide receiver James Hardy, will play in the team's preseason game, as he has sufficiently recovered from his hamstring injury, according to BuffaloBills.com.

Our View:Hardy will be trying to win a starting job to complement Lee Evans, so every snap is important for him. But as most fantasy players realize, rookie wide receivers do not a great selection make.
August 6, 2008
James Hardy has returned to practice after missing some time with a hamstring strain, according to Bills.com.

Our View:Hardy still has time to beat out Josh Reed for the starting gig at receiver opposite speed demon Lee Evans. Hardy should see the field plenty either way, and could hold solid value at the bottom of your depth chart in traditional leagues this season.
August 2, 2008
Rookie receiver James Hardy is eager to make an immediate impact with the Bills, according to the AP. He said, "I'm trying to be Trent's best friend. Whatever I have to do, if I have to go to his house, I'll be there. I want to make a difference as soon as I can."

Our View:Hardy has been spending extra time after practices going over plays and asking for advice from Trent Edwards and Lee Evans. He should be a first-round pick in rookie drafts, and could hold solid value at the bottom of your depth chart in traditional leagues this season.
July 29, 2008
James Hardy's reps with the first team have been few and far between according to the team's website.

Our View:Hardy was the 41st overall selection and there has been speculation that he would start opposite Lee Evans this season. However, at this point, that is not the case. We will keep you posted on his progression.
July 24, 2008
The Bills have inked second-round pick James Hardy (Indiana), according to Bills.com. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Offensive coordinator Turk Schonert said, "James is coming along. He's like every rookie, but his talent is there. He's a great weapon and he and Trent just need to get on the same page. He's just got to get a lot of reps and I've got to do a good job of putting him in good positions and simplifying it if I have to."

Our View:Hardy has a great shot to start opposite Lee Evans as a rookie, but expectations should be tempered, as Trent Edwards is still learning the ropes, and Hardy will likely struggle, as rookie receivers geneally do.
July 3, 2008
With the signing of Matt Forte by the Chicago Bears, the Buffalo Bills have the salary parameters in place to work on a deal for James Hardy, according to BuffaloBills.com. Forte was taken three spots ahead of Hardy in the draft.

Our View:Rookie wide receivers generally struggle in the NFL, so anybody taking a flyer on Hardy in fantasy drafts should keep that in mind. However, signing a deal without missing training camp would only help his cause.
June 12, 2008
Rookie James Hardy is making a name for himself, but it's for being involved in police matters and not for his work on the field. Hardy, already dealing with an event in which he reportedly brandished a fire arm during an argument, has now been identified as one of three Bills players in the car during the alleged Marshawn Lynch hit and run accident, according to the Buffalo News.

Our View:Way to ingratiate yourself with your new employer big fella. Hardy better cooperate with authorities and tell them whatever it is that he knows regarding this incident as he is clearly heading down a path that the Bills, and the NFL, won't be pleased with.
May 19, 2008
The Buffalo Bills team website reports that James Hardy wasn't shy about explaining the events concerning his much publicized altercation with his father on Mother's day weekend, as he came off the field following the Bills first OTA practice Monday. "A woman came outside and believed something else was happening and it wasn't," said Hardy. "That's why my father didn't know what was going on and honestly I didn't know what was going on until later that evening. I called and let coach (Jauron) know and everybody know what definitely happened and it's definitely in the past right now." Hardy quickly saw the negative perception the incident created about him publicly and it was troublesome to him that he could not rectify that perception.

Our View:According to published reports Hardy allegedly brandished a firearm during his argument based on a witness, but the Bills rookie wideout dismisses that claim. "No gun was involved," said Hardy. "I don't know where she got that from. That's something that me and my father discussed. The only problem is I feel even if I'm at home and I feel I have to protect myself he actually convinced me to go get one, but there wasn't one at the time there."
May 14, 2008
James Hardy released a statement on Wednesday regarding the reported altercation with his father. As reprinted on the team's official web site, Hardy says, "I realize what the public perception could be pertaining to this incident, however that was not the reality of the situation. This situation that has been blown out of proportion has been very hurtful and frustrating for me and my father. There was a misunderstanding and a misinterpretation of the situation. I would like to first apologize to the fans of Buffalo and the Bills organization for any distractions this may have caused." Published reports claim Hardy was beating up his father and had pulled a gun on the older man.

Our View:It sounds like the Bills have done their part to figure out what happened and are ready to move forward with the rookie receiver. Hardy hopefully won't have this hanging over him as he tries to climb the depth chart this summer.
May 13, 2008
As a follow-up to a previous story, a woman called police saying James Hardy was beating up his father and had pulled a gun when she yelled for him to stop, according to the AP. The witness told officers she yelled out for Hardy to stop after hearing a loud disturbance in the back yard at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Fort Wayne police spokesman Michael Joyner stated on Tuesday that no charges were filed because James Hardy was gone when officers arrived and Hardy’s father did not want to press charges. The police report quoted Hardy's father as saying his son has a lot of anger toward him because he was in prison when his son was young.

Our View:Hopefully this will be the end to this incident, and Hardy can move on and focus on football. As previously stated, Hardy was off to a good start with the Bills prior to this news, as he was believed to have a good shot to start opposite Lee Evans this season.
May 13, 2008
The Bills have talked to rookie wideout James Hardy following the news that he pulled a handgun on his father, according to BuffaloBills.com. The team released a statement that read, "We have spoken to law enforcement officials and they have informed us that they looked into this and have no plans to pursue the matter any further. We also spoke to James last night and will continue to speak with him today, but indications are that this matter has been resolved."

Our View:Hardy was off to a good start with the Bills prior to this news, as he was believed to have a good shot to start opposite Lee Evans this season.
May 13, 2008
Rookie wide receiver James Hardy (Indiana) allegedly pulled a handgun on his father on Sunday, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Hardy’s name has been removed from a police report regarding the incident, but other evidence pointed to Hardy pointing the gun at his father. Fort Wayne, Indiana police chief Rusty York confirmed that Hardy was the man who allegedly pointed the gun. But York said that the matter isn’t being pursued, because Hardy’s father wasn’t hurt.

Our View:The NFL could still decide to discipline Hardy for the incident. Hardy was off to a good start with the Bills prior to this news, as he was believed to have a good shot to start opposite Lee Evans this season.
May 10, 2008
There is a very good chance that rookie James Hardy (Indiana) can nail down the starting role opposite Lee Evans this season, according to BuffaloBills.com. Veteran Peerless Price is no longer on the roster and Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish are primarily inside players. Parrish also lacks size.

Our View:Hardy will provide the Bills with a big red-zone target at 6-5 220, and could prove to be dangerous in that area to opposing defenses. He lacks quickness and needs work on his routes, but he is strong and has long arms to fight off jams. He is also aggressive after the catch, and fights for extra yards. The Bills have lacked a receiver like him, and he could prove to be a good compliment to speed demon Evans.
May 6, 2008
When James Hardy says he'd like to be fellow receiver Lee Evans' little brother, he's referring to age, not size. The distinction is quite apparent because, at 6-5 and change, there's nothing small about Hardy, the Buffalo Bills' rookie second-round pick out of Indiana. The only thing bigger as far as head coach Dick Jauron is concerned might be the expectations the organization has of Hardy. They're counting on him to make an immediate impact on what's been a popgun offense by providing a secondary threat opposite Evans, according to the Sporting News. "He's a 6-foot-5 receiver, and we've got to score," Jauron said referring to an offense that produced 20 touchdowns last year -- a franchise low in a 16-game season. "Hopefully, he'll provide us with a lot more opportunity to score and make more plays, the plays that we need."

Our View:With only Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish ahead of him on the depth chart, it would be a major disappointment if Hardy didn’t seize the starting role opposite Evans during training camp.
May 5, 2008
Adding James Hardy to the Buffalo Bills receiving corps has safety Donte Whitner excited. He believes that a receiver with the size and ability of Hardy will force opposing defenses to make tough choices when it comes to coverage, according to BuffaloBills.com. "Any time you have a guy [Hardy] that's 6'5" or 6'6" with the speed that he has and with Lee (Evans) on the other side and guys like Roscoe (Parrish) and Josh (Reed) in the slot, you have a dangerous receiving corps," Whitner said. "So now when we get down in the red zone we don't have to come up with little schemes or tricks to try to get in the end zone. You can just throw the ball up to him and if he's double covered that means Lee is probably singled up. And I'm taking Lee 95 percent of the time against any corner in the league one-on-one. If you try to double both of them you have a guy like Roscoe in the slot. And I don't believe that anybody can cover him one-on-one in the slot in true man to man. I truly don't believe it. So now you have a very dangerous receiving corps."

Our View:Hardy compiled 79 receptions for 1,125 yards during his senior season, and scored 36 touchdowns during his three-year career at Indiana. He has No.1 receiver potential and will alleviate the doubles on Evans, while providing quarterback Trent Edwards with an imposing red zone target.
April 26, 2008
The Buffalo Bills drafted James Hardy with the 41st overall selection on Saturday. The All-Big Ten first-teamer in 2007, was another of the two-sport athletes in this years selection process. Hardy also played for the Hoosier basketball team.

Our View:Hardy is simply a gifted athlete that has that rare combination of speed and size. The 6-6 wide out will be a terrific red zone target for young quarterback Trent Edwards.
