October 8, 2008
Branden Albert, who had been dealing with an elbow injury, returned to a full practice Wednesday, according to the KC Star.

Our View:The rookie left tackle looks to be ready to play following this week's bye, which is good news for the Chiefs' offense.
October 1, 2008
Branden Albert has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Panthers due to a dislocated elbow according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The rookie could be back for Week 6 but it's unknown at this point.
September 30, 2008
Chiefs rookie tackle Branden Albert has a dislocated elbow and is wearing a brace around it, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Though a dislocated elbow sounds bad, the possibility remains that Albert could play Sunday when the Chiefs take on the Panthers.
September 29, 2008
The Kansas City Star reports that Herm Edwards acknowledged rookie left tackle Branden Albert's status for Week 5 is in question.

Our View:He was carted off the field with what appeared to be an arm injury in the first half against Denver in Week 4. Herb Taylor will start in his place if he is unable to go.
September 28, 2008
Rookie left tackle Branden Albert was carted off the field with what appeared to be an arm injury in the first half against Denver, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Albert, drafted with the 15th overall pick out of Maryland, missed most of the preseason with a foot injury. He was replaced by Herb Taylor with the Chiefs leading 13-7.
September 8, 2008
Branden Albert missed the preseason with a foot injury but was able to play every offensive snap in the Chiefs' loss to the Patriots Sunday, and he held up fine, according to the KC Star.

Our View:This is encouraging news for the Chiefs' offense, and namely for fantasy owners who invested in Larry Johnson with a top pick. Brodie Croyle sustained a shoulder injury, but rookie running back Jamaal Charles missed a block and not any of the linemen.
September 7, 2008
As expected, rookie left tackle Branden Albert (foot) is active and will start in Week 1 against the Patriots.

Our View:Albert missed the entire preseason, and the Patriots defense could make it a tough debut for this rookie.
August 31, 2008
Left tackle Branden Albert will practice this week and may be able to play in the season opener. "Not ruling him out at all," head coach Herm Edwards tells the Kansas City Star. "Not one bit." Albert sprained his foot on July 31.

Our View:Can a rookie who missed all of August step in at left tackle and protect Brodie Croyle and Larry Johnson? Good luck with that. The Patriots defense is probably drooling at the thought.
August 27, 2008
Chiefs first-round pick Branden Albert did not participate in team drills, but did some individual work in practice, according to Sporting News Today.

Our View:Albert has been out with an injury to his foot. He will not play in the team's final preseason game against the Rams, though it is not known if he will miss any time in the regular season.
August 19, 2008
Chiefs first-round selection, offensive lineman Branden Albert, did some running and took off the protective boot he had been wearing on his sprained foot, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Albert will miss the rest of the preseason, but the progress of his foot is encouraging to the Chiefs.
August 7, 2008
Branden Albert expects to miss the remainder of the preseason due to his sprained foot, according to the KC Star.

Our View:Albert wore a walking boot and used crutches to walk this week. Albert did not play tackle at Virginia, so he won't be able to effectively start at left tackle when he is ready to return, hence weakening the Chiefs' offensive line.
August 2, 2008
In a bit of bad news, one of the Chiefs first-round selections, offensive lineman Branden Albert, could miss the rest of training camp with a sprained foot, according to the AP.

Our View:Albert did not play tackle in college, so transitioning him there was going to take a lot of work in camp. This will obviously slow that process down, and weaken the team's offensive line.
August 1, 2008
Chiefs first-round pick, tackle Branden Albert, has really been impressing people in his training camp, and has been described as "the best tackle in camp," according to Sporting News Today.

Our View:For a guy who played guard in college, we're not sure Albert being the best tackle in Chiefs camp is more of a reflection on Albert or on the Chiefs other tackles.
July 24, 2008
Branden Albert, the No. 15 overall pick, reached an agreement with the Chiefs on a five-year contract.

Our View:Albert could start immediately for an offensive line in need. He has plenty of ability but shouldn't be expected to excel right away.
June 10, 2008
Branden Albert was able to throw out the first pitch at the Royals game on Tuesday despite a sprained left ankle. The rookie will miss the last week of offseason practice but expects to be ready for training camp. "For it to happen the time it did, it’s fortunate," he tells the Kansas City Star. "I’ve got a month or two to recover. There are some things I’ve still got to learn; some things I’ve still got to get used to. I’ve got the basics of it down."

Our View:The Chiefs have already plugged Albert in at left tackle, for better or worse. He'll need to stay healthy in camp to hold down that spot, though.
June 9, 2008
First-round pick Branden Albert sustained a left ankle injury during Sunday's OTA practice, according to the Kansas City Star. He limped to a tent, where he had his foot and ankle bandaged. He later walked without help but was carted to the players’ parking lot. Coach Herm Edwards said Albert would be fine.

Our View:The rookie out of Virgina is huge at 6-7 310 and was drafted to try to solidify a glaring need at tackle. He has been working on the right side.
April 26, 2008
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Virginia offensive guard Branden Albert with the 15th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Our View:The Chiefs moved up in a trade with the Detroit Lions to fortify their offensive line. The organization is rebuilding, and doing it the right way from the inside out with their first two picks in the draft.
April 18, 2008
Count the Redskins in as one of the many teams interested in Branden Albert, the Washington Post notes. The paper admits that it would be a long shot for the offensive tackle/guard to fall down to the No. 21 spot.

Our View:It's been a quiet offseason for Daniel Snyder and the Skins, so we're not counting out a major move come draft day, such as trading up for Albert.
April 9, 2008
Branden Albert's stock has skyrocketed in recent weeks. The offensive lineman is being touted as a top-10 pick and the Chiefs, who are in desperate need of help in the trenches, are reportedly interested.
