Coach Eric Mangini says he is not overly concerned about the slow development of first round pick Vernon Gholston. "Guys develop differently," Mangini said. "There's no one set timeline that I've ever seen for a rookie. All he has to do is keep chipping away at it and keep making progress each week."

Our View:The number six overall pick has been a nonfactor in the first two games. He holds no fantasy value except for perhaps in deep keeper leagues.

Just as he was in training camp, Jets rookie outside linebacker Vernon Gholston is struggling, and was responsible for a penalty when he was the 12th man on the field, according to the New York Post.

Our View:Gholston has done absolutely nothing, so fantasy owners who selected him in IDP leagues hoping for a Shawne Merriman-esque start to his career should cut bait and look elsewhere.

Jets first-round selection Vernon Gholston has been among the biggest disappointments in training camp, and had a poor night in the team's final preseason game, with just three tackles in over 40 snaps, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Ghoston was supposed to come in and be a pass rusher on the outside for New York, but that has yet to happen. If you drafted him for depth in IDP leagues with the hope that he would put up a decent number of sacks, it doesn't look like that is in the forecast early on.

First-round rookie (sixth overall) Vernon Gholston had another quiet game in the preseason against Washington, according to the Star-Ledger. He registered three tackles, but failed to make any big plays.

Our View:The Jets are being patient with him, but equally have to be anxious to see him make a positive impact on defense.

After missing one day of training camp, Vernon Gholston has signed a five-year, $50 million deal with the New York Jets, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Gholston is guaranteed $21 million, and he will provide an immediate pass rushing threat off the edge in the team's 3-4 defense.
