Derek Stanley has been released by the St. Louis Rams, according to the team's Twitter page. Stanley was serving as the team's kick and punt returner.

Our View:The team signed wide receiver Danny Amendola today, making Stanley expendable. He never really had any fantasy value, but he could very well catch on somewhere else because of his return abilities.

According to Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Derek Stanley has a lock on the Rams' kick returning duties this season.

Our View:Stanley won't be worth much in fantasy leagues, but has some value now that he is assured of returning kicks. The Rams don't have many options at receiver right now either, so he will get some catches, but consider him a last resort for your lineup spot.

Derek Stanley was limited in Wednesday's practice while recovering from knee surgery, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He fielded and returned punts.

Our View:He is believed to be close to fully participating. Stanley will not offer much as a receiver if healthy, and should only hold value in fantasy leagues that feature return men.

Derek Stanley is still rehabbing from knee surgery and will be held out of minicamp, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:Stanley is a decent return man, but the injury could compromise his speed this season. He does not merit fantasy interest.

The Belleville News Democrat reports that Derek Stanley was placed on injured reserve on Monday. He has a torn ACL and torn cartilage in his knee. Rams coach Jim Haslett said Stanley will have surgery in the next 2-3 weeks, and it’ll take 6-8 months for him to recover from the injury.

Our View:Stanley suffered the injury on an end around in the first quarter of the Rams’ 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Haslett said that Dane Looker will return punts and Kenneth Darby will return kickoffs in Stanley’s absence.
