Running back Kolby Smith exited the game against Tampa Bay in the second quarter with an undisclosed injury.

Our View:Smith is doubtful to return after being taken to the locker room on a cart. As a result, Jamaal Charles and Jackie Battle will share the workload for the remainder of the game.

With Larry Johnson likely out for at least another month, Kolby Smith will continue to start for the Chiefs. He has picked up just 54 yards on 25 carries this year.

Our View:Jamaal Charles is a better back, and he will see plenty of touches, as well. With the way Tyler Thigpen threw the ball last week, we could see KC pass a lot over the next month.

Kolby Smith will be the starting running back for the Kansas City Chiefs in place of Larry Johnson, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Smith and the Chiefs face a Jets run defense that is fourth in the NFL, giving up just 83.0 yards per game. However, they have allowed seven rushing touchdowns, which is tied for 22nd in the league.

The Kansas City Star reports that Kolby Smith will start Sunday against the Titans. Larry Johnson will not be active due to missed meetings and other team obligations.

Our View:Smith filled in admirably for Johnson when he was injured last season but don't expect much from him against on of the toughest defenses in the league. Jamaal Charles also figures to get a fair share of carries for the Chiefs.

Kolby Smith has been added to the injury report with a back ailment, according to the Kansas City Star. He did not practice Thursday.

Our View:If he plays, Smith will not see many carries behind Larry Johnson, especially since the Chiefs will likely fall behind the Patriots early, so his injury holds little fantasy significance for this week.

Kolby Smith carried the ball only six times on Thursday night but he produced 38 yards and two touchdowns for the Chiefs.

Our View:Larry Johnson didn't see any touches on the night as Smith had a solid outing, as did Jamaal Charles who produced 43 yards on six carries against the Rams.

Our View:Smith cannot afford to miss much time in the preseason, as he is being pushed hard by rookie Jamaal Charles for the primary backup role behind starter Larry Johnson.
