Isaiah Stanback will have surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, according to the Dallas Morning News. He sustained the injury during a workout Tuesday.

Our View:Stanback is expected to be ready to go in time for training camp in late-July. He needs to be healthy while competing for one of the final spots at receiver on the Cowboys' depth chart.

Owner Jerry Jones suggests that the Cowboys may install some Wildcat-like formations in 2009, and that plan could affect the upcoming draft. "We may want to do some things on our offense this year with a third quarterback," Jones tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "That's something other than be there as a backup to the second quarterback and be there in case you lose all the quarterbacks and be there not certainly as a development prospect, but we could hopefully find a quarterback with a set of skills that we could put some packages in for." Jones adds that wide receiver Isaiah Stanback could also run such plays, since he was a quarterback during his college days at Washington.

Our View:What Jones doesn't mention is that a Wildcat formation may be the best way to get Marion Barber, Felix Jones, and/or Tashard Choice on the field at the same time. The Dolphins did that successfully in 2008 with Ronnie Brown taking direct snaps. Jones seems to suggest that the Cowboys would be very interested in picking someone like Pat White, but maybe Choice and Barber will get a chance to show off their arms this summer.

Isaiah Stanback underwent shoulder surgery last week, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Stanback underwent the same procedure last year but re-injured his shoulder in the preseason and dealt with it popping in and out through most of the season.

Our View:Stanback was good for two catches and 24 yards this season.

Cowboys wideout Isaiah Stanback may not be active for the team's game against Washington, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Dallas dresses only four receivers most of the time, and with Sam Hurd about to make his return, there may not be room for Stanback.
