JaMarcus Russell, who skipped Oakland's season-ending team meeting on Monday due to "personal reasons", was apparently in Las Vegas staying at the Palms Hotel, according to the San Jose Mercury News' Carl Inman.

Our View:This latest act of immaturity could (and should) be the final straw to the former No. 1 pick's atrocious three-year tenure with the Raiders. Expect him to have a job as a backup next year even if the Raiders part ways with him, though he has a whole lot to prove before he's ever given consideration as a starter.

In JaMarcus Russell's latest show of cluelessness, he had himself excused from the Raiders' season-ending team meeting on Monday for "personal reasons," according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:While it's possible (lots of things are possible in this world) Russell actually had a serious personal matter to attend to, considering the source, it's hard to believe. Unless crazed owner Al Davis physically forces the Raiders' coach (Tom Cable or otherwise) to start Russell next season, he will be on the bench - where he belongs.

With a 50.0 quarterback rating, JaMarcus Russell finished the 2009 season as the NFL's lowest rated passer, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Our View:His 48.8 completion percentage was also the league's worst. If owner Al Davis forces his team to again start Russell in 2010, there may need to be an intervention.

JaMarcus Russell came into Sunday's game for the injured Charlie Frye and was 9-of-14 for 102 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

Our View:The Raiders didn't want to use him, but they really didn't have a choice. And, of course, a close game went south after he entered. He finished the year with just three passing TDs against 11 interceptions.

Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post says he does not believe Raiders head coach Tom Cable will be back next season.

Our View:Cable threw quarterback JaMarcus Russell under-the-bus last week, a likely indication that he does not believe he will be back. Lombardi says league chatter is currently focusing on Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride coming to Oakland to coach in 2010. Stay tuned.
