According to Kent Babb on Twitter, Jamaal Charles is still the main back in Kansas City despite the Chiefs' recent signing of Thomas Jones.

Our View:Charles is expected to split carries with Jones 65-35, which should help him to stay fresh throughout the year. Last season he was all alone in the backfield and was apparently on fumes when the season drew to a close. Charles should still have fantasy value, but if Jones vultures his goal-line touches his worth will drop like a stone.

After exploding for 259 yards and two touchdowns on just 25 carries on Sunday, Jamaal Charles became the first player in NFL history to rush for more than 1,100 yards in season on fewer than 200 carries, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Our View:That is a stat without any real meaning, but one that still makes you take notice of just how effective Charles was after he took over for Larry Johnson in November. In Kansas City's final eight games of the season, he had five 100-yard rushing games. He finishes 2009-10 averaging a robust 5.9 yards per carry.

Jamaal Charles exploded for 259 yards and two scores on 25 carries in Sunday's 44-24 upset win over the Broncos.

Our View:Charles has been a beast since taking over the starting job in KC. Sunday's performance in the season finale gave him four straight 100-yard games and six TDs in his last six games. The 259-yard effort was obviously the best of his career, and he'll likely see a lot of early attention on draft day next year.

Jamaal Charles rushed 24 times for 102 yards and caught three passes for 22 yards in the Week 16 loss to the Bengals. His six-game scoring streak came to an end.

Our View:Charles wasn't able to celebrate his 23rd birthday with a win or a touchdown, but he continues to prove that he should be the Chiefs' top back heading into 2010.

Head coach Todd Haley had high praise for Jamaal Charles after his performance on Sunday, according to the Kansas City Star. "Jamaal again showed he's pushing to try to be one of the top guys in the league at that position," Haley said. "He's continued to impress me."

Our View:Charles has proven himself as a great weekly play this season ever since he took over for Larry Johnson as Kansas City's starting back. Comments like that from Haley would seem to indicate that the Chiefs have every intention to enter 2010 with Charles as their feature back, as they well should. Charles boasts an excellent combination of speed and pass-catching ability and, as long as he ends 2009 on a high note, could push for first-round status heading into next season despite the Chiefs' overall woes.
