Cowboys wideout Sam Hurd was put on injured reserve after surgery on his ankle, ending his season, according to the AP.

Our View:Hurd was expected to be the team's third wideout, but he failed to catch even one pass after spraining his ankle in the preseason and struggling with that the whole year.

Sam Hurd will need to undergo surgery for his high ankle sprain, according to NFL.com.

Our View:There is no estimate as to how long he may be out of action following the procedure. The fantasy value of Miles Austin would normally go up with Hurd out, but the team will also be without star quarterback Tony Romo for 4-5 weeks due to his fractured right pinkie.

Sam Hurd has missed the Cowboys first three games of the 2008 season but he won't miss the fourth. On Wednesday, Hurd fully participated in practice and head coach Wade Phillips told the Dallas Morning News, he would be ready to go in Week 4.

Our View:It's still unknown how much Hurd will see the field due to the recent success of Miles Austin, who had 115 yards receiving and a touchdown last week. Phillips said the coaches will find ways to get both receivers on the field at the same time. Hurd might be one of those players you will have to wait and see how many balls will come his way before you pick him up off of waivers.

Sam Hurd has been nursing a high ankle sprain, but declares himself ready to play in Week 4 against the rival Redskins, according to the Star-Telegram. He said, "No way I am missing this week. I'm good now."

Our View:Hurd intends to play, but may not get much playing time after Miles Austin broke out with 115 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 3 at Green Bay.

Sam Hurd is questionable for Week 3 due to a high ankle sprain, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:He seems unlikely to play this weekend at Green Bay. If healthy, he would serve as the Cowboys' No. 3 receiver, giving him fantasy value in their solid passing offense.
