Sam Hurd is expected to play in Sunday's season opener at Tampa Bay, according to the Cowboys' official website. He has been recovering from a quad injury.

Our View:Hurd has upside, but is still learning his craft at receiver, and does not yet garner consideration for fantasy leagues.

Sam Hurd, fighting to be the Cowboys number two receiver this season, got off to great start on Thursday night, catching five balls for 79 yards in the Cowboys loss in Oakland.

Our View:Austin dropped the only ball thrown his way and Crayton did not even play, so this has to be good for Hurd.

Sam Hurd has been a standout in camp among the Cowboys' receivers, according to their official team website.

Our View:Hurd is competing with Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin for the No. 2 role at receiver as Roy Williams' wingman. The winner of the job will be worth targeting as a sleeper in fantasy leagues in the Cowboys' dynamic offense led by quarterback Tony Romo.

Sam Hurd could challenge for the Cowboys' number two receiver role, according to ESPN.

Our View:Hurd was impressive in OTAs, and apparently has what it takes to beat out Patrick Crayton and Miles Austin. With Tony Romo under center and Terrell Owens out of the picture, even if he doesn't earn the number two receiver spot, he's likely to dramatically improve on his 2007 (he missed all of 2008 with injury) numbers of 19 catches and 314 yards.

Sam Hurd, who has been battling a quad injury, will sit out of Cowboys activities until training camp according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Hurd says he is 100 percent and we expect he will be when training camp begins in late July.
