Jason Carter has been placed on the season-ending IR, according to the Rock Hill Herald. He tore the ACL in his right knee Saturday night while fielding a punt.

Our View:This is unfortunate as the team praised him during a strong training camp.

Receiver Jason Carter continues to impress in practice, according to CarolinaGrowl.com. Fellow receiver Muhsin Muhammad said, "One guy that that has really been turning my head is Jason Carter. He comes out here and makes plays every day. He’s a guy that really hasn’t made a big splash in the NFL yet, but I think he’s a guy that can play."

Our View:The team continues to praise Carter, but the Panthers are loaded with talent at receiver, and he has a long battle ahead of him to make the roster. Steve Smith, Muhsin Muhammad, and DJ Hackett are locks to make the team, and Ryan Robinson is also likely to make it. That means Carter will be in a tough competition with Dwayne Jarrett and Travis Taylor for the final spot in the Panthers' receiving corps. Coach John Fox normally does not keep more than five receivers on the active roster.

Jason Carter has reportedly been the most impressive player for the Panthers in mini-camp, according to CarolinaGrowl.com. Carter has displayed great athleticism and made a few amazing catches over the weekend.

Our View:Carter was a practice squad player for Carolina last season, and he will be hard-pressed to nail down a significant role in the crowded Panthers' receiving corps with speed demon Steve Smith, reliable vet Muhsin Muhammad, and rising start DJ Hackett. Dwayne Jarrett will be in the mix as well, and Carter's fantasy potential will be limited.
