Player Notes
November 20, 2009
Lance Moore (ankle) will be out again this weekend, according to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Moore has had a nightmare season after a splendid 2008 campaign, and is no longer a viable fantasy option, even in New Orleans' explosive offense.
November 15, 2009
Week 10 inactives: QB Chase Daniel (3rd), WR Lance Moore, FS Darren Sharper, RB Lynell Hamilton, K Garrett Hartley, LB Jonathan Casillas, CB Jabari Greer, and DT Sedrick Ellis.

Our View:As expected, WR Marques Colston (illness) is active and will start. On defense, CB Randall Gay will start in place of Greer, who is inactive with a groin injury. Also, rookie CB Malcom Jenkins will see extended action in nickel situations, and Usama Young is expected to replace Sharper, who is inactive with a knee injury.
November 13, 2009
Lance Moore (ankle) will not play against the Rams in Week 10, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Moore had nearly 1,000 yards receiving in 2008, but has just 146 in six games in 2009. Clearly, Drew Brees has moved on to other targets.
November 12, 2009
Jeff Duncan reports via Twitter that Lance Moore missed practice once again on Thursday with an ankle injury.

Our View:Don't expect to see Moore in the lineup this week. He hasn't practiced in two weeks and his ankle doesn't seem to be improving. It's an unfortunate scenario, as Moore would have had a chance to try and salvage a lost season against an underwhelming Rams secondary.
November 6, 2009
Lance Moore (sprained ankle) will not play against the Panthers this weekend, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:After catching 79 balls for nearly 1,000 yards a season ago, Moore is averaging just 24.3 yards per game in 2009. Needless to say, he's no longer a viable WR2 or WR3.
November 4, 2009
The New Orleans Times-Picayune is reporting that Saints' wide receiver Lance Moore sat out Wednesday's practice with a sprained ankle. Moore's status for this week will be determined in a few days.

Our View:The injury was originally thought to be a bruised shin, so the fact that it is an ankle has to be a bit concerning. No word yet on the severity of the sprain, but we will update his status throughout the week.
November 3, 2009
Lance Moore is dealing with a bruised shin in the aftermath of the Saints victory over the Falcons on Monday night, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:His status has not been updated as of yet, but it's hard to imagine it affecting his Week 9 availability.
October 2, 2009
Lance Moore (hamstring) is probable for Week 4 against the Jets, according to NFL.com.

Our View:Moore looks to be fit to play, but may remain limited, as he was in Week 3 at Buffalo. He is not a recommended fantasy option.
October 1, 2009
Lance Moore (hamstring) was able to participate, albeit on a limited basis, in the Saints' practice for a second-straight day on Thursday and seems on track to play against the Jets in Week 4, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Moore has been a big disappointment thus far, catching just two balls for 38 yards in Week 1, failing to record a catch in limited action in Week 2 and being listed as inactive in Week 3 due to injury. It's nice to hear that he's looking better and may play this week, but we'd still check in on his status on Sunday morning to make sure, and regardless, would recommend keeping him benched until he proves that he's healthy and drawing attention from Drew Brees.
September 25, 2009
Lance Moore (hamstring) has been declared out this Sunday for the Saints' game against the Bills, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Rod Harper will likely be activated to take his roster spot. Don't expect quarterback Drew Brees to throw to him, however.
September 25, 2009
Lance Moore (hamstring) says he does not expect to play this Sunday against the Bills, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:More disappointment for Moore owners, who has just two catches for 38 yards so far in 2009. You may want to begin exploring other options, though dropping Moore, who has Drew Brees throwing to him, might not be wise just yet.
September 24, 2009
Lance Moore (hamstring) missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune's Jeff Duncan.

Our View:Not encouraging if you are a Moore owner. At this point, he seems likely to be a game-time decision against the Bills. So far in 2009, he has just two catches for 38 yards, hard to believe with the numbers Drew Brees has been putting up.
September 21, 2009
Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Lance Moore's hamstring injury is not as serious as it could have been, and that he very well may play this Sunday against the Bills.

Our View:Great news for the Saints' well-oiled offensive attack. Stay tuned for more definitive word.
September 21, 2009
Lance Moore's status for Week 3 is undetermined after the wideout left the Saints win on Sunday with a hamstring injury, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The team has not yet determined the severity of the injury, though he is not scheduled to undergo an MRI at this time. This will be a developing story as the week progresses.
September 20, 2009
Lance Moore left today's game at Philadelphia with a hamstring injury.

Our View:Moore is not expected to return to the game, and the severity of his injury is yet to be determined.
September 15, 2009
According to the Baton Rouge Advocate, wide receiver Lance Moore only played 23 snaps in Sunday's opener against the Lions.

Our View:Moore is listed as the number two receiver on the Saints depth chart, but number three and four receivers Devery Henderson (45) and Robert Meachem (29) both saw more snaps. Henderson looks to be the number two right now behind Marques Colston, so it may be smart to find a replacement for Moore in your starting lineup until the Saints decided to get him more involved in the offense. He had 79 catches for 928 yards and ten TDs a year ago.
August 29, 2009
Lance Moore is set to make his 2009 preseason debut Saturday against the Raiders, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He has been recovering from shoulder surgery.

Our View:Moore broke out with 79 catches for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008, but may be a bit of a letdown this season with stud Marques Colston, tight end Jeremy Shockey and running back Reggie Bush healthy again.
August 16, 2009
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that receiver Lance Moore had his first full contact practice on Sunday.

Our View:Moore has surgery on his shoulder in the offseason, so he's been practicing with a red "no-contact" jersey so far in camp. He's healthy now and has been cleared to start running into people. He should be a solid third fantasy receiver once again this season.
August 13, 2009
Saints' wide receiver Lance Moore will not be active for the team's first preseason game, according to the team's official website. Moore is recovering from shoulder surgery.

Our View:Moore is expected to be good to go for the second preseason game, and he should be fine by the time the season starts. Coming off his excellent 2008 season, Moore looks to be a good fantasy option once again, assuming that he is completely healthy.
August 6, 2009
The Baton Rouge Advocate reports that Saints wide receiver Lance Moore is recovering smoothly from shoulder surgery and expects to play in the team's second preseason game on August 22nd.

Our View:Moore is close to 100 percent, but expects to be held out of the first preseason game for precautionary measures. He has been limited to non contact drills in camp so far, but that could change by Saturday.
August 1, 2009
Wide receiver Lance Moore participated in individual and position drills while wearing a no-contact jersey on Friday. He torn the labrum in his left shoulder in April. "I'm going to do what they'll let me," Moore tells the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "They don't want me to have any contact for another two weeks at least, so I won't be in team drills."

Our View:This is right in line with what we expected out of Moore at the start of camp. The Saints aren't worried about him missing reps because they say he is such an intelligent player. If he is so smart, why did he hurt himself lifting weights? Anyway, Moore will start when he is healthy.
July 30, 2009
Lance Moore will start training camp on the PUP list, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. He is still not fully recovered from shoulder surgery.

Our View:Moore expects to be ready for full-contact when preseason games start. Moore is expected to start at receiver if healthy, and would be worth targeting in fantasy leagues while working in the Saints' high powered aerial attack led by stud quarterback Drew Brees. Moore hauled in 79 passes for 928 yards and 10 scores in 2008, topping 100 yards three times.
July 17, 2009
According to SB Nation, Saints' receiver Lance Moore expects that after two or three weeks of training camp he will be at 100 percent.

Our View:Moore is recovering from shoulder surgery and will be held out of full contact drills early on, but should be healthy enough after a couple of weeks to fully participate. He's slated to start Week One as the Saints' number two receiver.
April 24, 2009
Lance Moore has signed a one-year tender worth $1.545MM to remain with the Saints, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Moore hauled in 79 receptions for 928 yards with 10 touchdowns in 2008, but teams did not try to sign him away from New Orleans as he is recovering from shoulder surgery.
April 16, 2009
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Lance Moore underwent surgery on Monday to repair an injured left shoulder and is expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

Our View:The extent of the injury is unknown, but it is believed Moore hurt his shoulder while lifting weights this offseason. Moore is a restricted free agent and has been tendered a one-year offer worth $1.545 million. With this surgery, it appears as if the Saints won't have to worry about any other team signing him to an offer sheet.
