Danieal Manning has been ruled out for the Bears Week 7 matchup with the Vikings due to a hamstring injury, according to TSN.

Our View:Manning will head to the sidelines which could allow the Vikings a bit more room to pass, though we all know that they look to run first.

The Bears haven't revealed much about Devin Hester's rib injury, but they are confident that Daniel Manning could handle the return duties if Hester misses time. "Danieal Manning is probably one of the better kickoff returners in the league," special teams coordinator Dave Toub informs the team's official web site. Manning returned two kickoffs for 54 yards in Week 2.

Our View:This preseason, Manning had a 75-yard kickoff return and receiver Earl Bennett took a punt to the house. Hester is a special return man, but the Bears would remain dangerous because they are just so darn good as a unit when it comes to special teams.

Danieal Manning will in fact serve as the Bears' nickelback this season after there were reports that he was being moved away from the role, according to the Chicago Tribune. Coach Lovie Smith said, "Danieal has received reps at only one position this entire year, and that's nickel. Once we get in a game, could he be an emergency safety? Yes, he could. But he's playing nickel and that's where he's going to be."

Our View:Manning should be a key member of the Bears' secondary and should be productive enough to target as a reserve for IDP leagues.

The Chicago Bears, who released cornerback Ricky Manning, Jr. on Tuesday and were thought to be replacing him at nickelback with Danieal Manning, have decided not to put Manning at that position after all, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Our View:Apparently, Brandon McGowan will now get the snaps as the nickel corner. Releasing Manning seems like a strange move considering they don't have any proven players to cover the slot, or even a plan in place at the position.

Danieal Manning switched positions from safety to cornerback, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. He is working with the starters as the inside nickel back.

Our View:The former second round pick has shuffled between cornerback and safety a few times before. The low-profile defensive back made a favorable fantasy impact in 2007, with 79 tackles (68 solo) and two interceptions. It remains unclear what role he will ultimately hold this season, and it is too early to put a value on his fantasy stock for 2008.
