Calvin Lowry has been released by the Jaguars, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Lowry is merely adequate as a pro, and was not expected to push for playing time in a solid Jaguars' secondary. He only has two interceptions over 43 career games.

The Jaguars have signed Calvin Lowry, according to the Associated Press. Wide receiver Jerry Porter was placed on injured reserve as the adjoining move.

Our View:Lowry is not a solid pro and will merely provide depth to the Jaguars' secondary.

Calvin Lowry has moved ahead of Marlon McCree at free safety and could be the starter against New England on Monday night, according to the Denver Post. Lowry said he practiced with the Broncos' first-team defense Wednesday in the team's first workout in preparation for the Patriots.

Our View:The Broncos signed Lowry off waivers from Tennessee on September 1, and he has played as a backup to McCree and strong safety Marquand Manuel, in dime packages and on special teams so far this season. Lowry, in his third season out of Penn State, started 11 games for Tennessee last season and had two interceptions. He has just one tackle this season.

The Broncos claimed safety Calvin Lowry off waivers on Sunday, the Tennessean reports. The Titans released Lowry on Saturday.

Our View:The Broncos lost John Lynch this offseason and revamped their safety spots. They are set for the opener, but Lowry might have a chance to earn time down the road. He has no IDP value.
August 8, 2008
Calvin Lowry missed practice Thursday because of a lower back strain suffered in the morning special teams session, according to the Nashville City Paper.

Our View:The injury is not believed to be serious, and he is considered day-to-day. He is projected to back up Chris Hope at strong safety, and his fantasy value will be limited.
