Marques Colston (knee) is listed as probable on the Saints' injury report, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

November 20, 2008
Marques Colston was limited in Thursday's practice while dealing with his knee ailment, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:If he is deemed fit to play on Monday night, he will have a tough match-up against a strong Packers' pass defense.
November 19, 2008
Marques Colston was limited in practice on Wednesday, according to the Packers' official web site.

Our View:Colston might not be the best bet against a strong Packers defense this week, especially with being limited by his knee.
November 16, 2008

Our View:Fantasy owners should feel free to use Colston against a shaky Chiefs defense.
November 13, 2008

Marques Colston caught seven passes for 140 yards in the Week 10 loss to Atlanta.

Our View:Colston didn't score, but this was by far his most impressive performance of the 2008 season. The Hofstra product is an every week starter going forward.
November 8, 2008
Saints wideout Marques Colston will see his role expanded during the team's Week 10 game against Atlanta, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Colston has not been productive since coming back from injury. He has just five catches for 82 yards on the season, and is just getting back to complete health.
November 7, 2008
There is speculation that Marques Colston may not start with belief that coach Sean Payton is content with Devery Henderson and Lance Moore as the starting tandem, according to New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:Fantasy owners should not panic, as Colston would still serve as the No. 3 receiver in a pass-happy Saints' offense. It is also only a matter of time before the stone-handed Henderson falls out of favor with Payton again due to dropped passes. He should be penciled into fantasy lineups against a manageable Falcons' pass defense (ranked 15th).
October 20, 2008
Marques Colston was pulled out of Sunday's game against Carolina due to ineffective play, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:He didn't aggravate his surgically repaired thumb, but he admitted that he was out of rhythm after missing the past five games. He did not catch a pass, and he was removed from the lineup in the fourth quarter. The other Saints' receivers didn't fare much better in a 30-7 loss, and perhaps Colston will perform better in Week 8 against San Diego, which is a more favorable match-up than Carolina.
October 19, 2008

October 16, 2008
Receiver Marques Colston (thumb) appears on track to return to the lineup Sunday. Colston participated in team drills on a limited basis Thursday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

October 15, 2008
Marques Colston, who is recovering from a thumb injury, practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The source states that Colston will "almost certainly" be back in the Saints' lineup after he had a good week of practice last week. Fantasy owners should be thrilled to get the rising star back this week, but expectations should be tempered against the Panthers' highly ranked pass defense.
October 13, 2008

October 10, 2008
Saints wideout Marques Colston will be on the field and active for the team's Week 6 contest against the Oakland Raiders, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

October 9, 2008

October 8, 2008
Marques Colston returned to practice on Wednesday according to the Times-Picayune. He was catching balls with only a small amount of padding on his surgically-repaired thumb. If he feels comfortable catching the ball, he should definitely be able to go for Week 6.

Our View:Expect Colston to return with a fury once he gets back on the field. Quarterback Drew Brees has made due without him for four weeks, but is certainly looking forward to working with his primary target once again.
October 6, 2008

October 5, 2008
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Colston (thumb) will have his cast removed next week and could return in Week 8.

September 21, 2008
Saints inactives: QB Joey Harrington (3rd), WR Marques Colston, WR Terrance Cooper, RB Aaron Stecker, DB Aaron Glenn, LB Scott Fujita, TE Mark Campbell, DT Antwan Lake.

Our View:Colston is expected to miss another month of action due to the thumb surgery. Meanwhile, linebacker Scott Fujita is inactive for the second consecutive week due to a knee injury. Fujita is a rock on the strong side, and his absence will make it easier for the Broncos to run the ball this afternoon.
September 14, 2008
Marques Colston, CB Randall Gay, RB Aaron Stecker, CB Mike McKenzie, SS Roman Harper, LB Mark Simoneau, LB Scott Fujita, T Jermon Bushrod and DT Antwan Lake are the Saints' Week 2 inactives.

Our View:The secondary is dealing with a rash of injuries. We might suggest starting Jason Campbell, but he looked too awful last week.
September 10, 2008
The New Orleans Saints have lost their top receiving weapon, Marques Colston, to a torn ligament in his left thumb, according to FOXSports.com. Colston, in fact, quietly had surgery on Tuesday to reattach the ligament and will miss the next month to six weeks.

August 23, 2008

July 24, 2008
Marques Colston has signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him under contract with the Saints through the 2011 season, according to the Sports Ticker.

Our View:Considering the overwhelming numbers he has posted, Colston more than deserved the money. A seventh-round draft selection in 2006, Colston has 168 career receptions - a record for any player in his first two seasons.
July 23, 2008

Our View:Colston has agreed to terms on a three-year extension with the Saints, GM Mickey Loomis announced Wednesday in his pre-training camp address. Colston, a seventh-round pick in 2006, has far outplayed his rookie contract. In two seasons, he's caught 168 passes for 2,240 yardsand 19 touchdowns. The Times-Picayune did not reveal terms of the deal in their report, other than the length.
July 6, 2008
The Saints have had preliminary talks with Marques Colston's agent regarding an extension, but no new progress toward reaching a deal has been made, according to the New Orleans Times Picayune.

Our View:Colston is not expected to be a holdout when training camp begins, but he clearly deserves a lucrative new deal, as he racked up 98 receptions for 1,202 yards and 11 scores in 2007.
June 9, 2008
Marques Colston was a no-show at the Saints' OTA session on Monday, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Colston has been looking for a new contract, but is not bickering with the team, as he has been a regular participant in the Saints' off-season conditioning program, which started in mid-March, and was at the mandatory mini-camp, and at the rest of the OTA practices. Coach Sean Payton noted that Colston has done well so far in practice, and will call him up to see what the deal was regarding his absence.

Our View:Colston should not be a distraction, and the missed OTA on Monday was voluntary.
March 21, 2008
Marques Colston recently had arthroscopic surgery on the left knee that bothered him throughout last season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Colston is also rehabbing from a wrist injury he suffered in the final game of the 2007 season, but expects to be full speed in his training by next month. "Unfortunately I'm a vet to the surgeries, so I know exactly what it takes. I've just got to be patient with it," said Colston, who has kept up his conditioning on the stationary bike, among other methods. "I had a lot of irritation going on in there throughout the season. Now's the time to clean it up and get healthy." Colston caught 98 passes for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns, despite playing hurt for much of last season.

January 22, 2008
The Saints will explore the possibility of inking receiver Marques Colston to a long-term contract before he hits the free agent market following next season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Colston will be a restricted free agent because he signed a three-year deal as a rookie. It would be in the Saints’ best interest to not let it get to that point.
