According to SB Nation, the Bengals are toying with the idea of pursuing free agent wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

Our View:Marshall spent the weekend in Seattle talking to the Seahawks, but no visit has been scheduled with the Bengals yet. The Bengals are looking for another deep threat to compliment Chad Ochocinco and have a long history of accepting troubled players. Marshall fits both aspects. He'll cost them a first round pick, but the on field results would likely be worth it.

Brandon Marshall has arrived in Seattle for his visit with the Seahawks, according to Jason LaCanfora's (NFL Network) twitter page.

Our View:There is belief that the Seahawks are unlikely to surrender their first-round pick (sixth overall) as compensation to sign the stud receiver away from Denver though. T.J. Houshmandzadeh would benefit from more single coverage if Marshall does land in Seattle.

Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adam Schefter is now reporting that "Brandon Marshall (is) expected to be in Seattle on Saturday to visit the Seahawks and see if they can hammer out an offer sheet."

Our View:Were Seattle actually to sign Marshall, and Denver did not match their offer, they would be surrendering the number six overall pick in this year's draft to the Broncos. This is sure to get very interesting.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks are "strongly considering" signing Broncos restricted free agent Brandon Marshall.

Our View:The Seahawks have been aggressive since Pete Carroll arrived in town, and this would be a hugely aggressive move. Stay tuned.

Brandon Marshall is believed to be on the Seahawks' radar, according to Aaron Wilson's (Ravens Insider) twitter page.

Our View:The Ravens are not expected to bid on Marshall, even though the Broncos only placed a first-round tender on him. Nate Burleson is slated to hit free agency, and Seattle needs an upgrade at the position. He could potentially form a great tandem with T.J. Houshmandzadeh if they can reel him in.

The Broncos have placed "only" a first-round tender on restricted free agent Brandon Marshall, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:The move is widely perceived to be a sign that the Broncos are ready to move on without their dynamic receiver, since they did not place the highest possible tender, both a first round pick and third round pick, on Marshall. The first round tender means that Marshall can sign with any team, but that the Broncos have a right to match the offer. If they do not, they receive the signing club's first-round pick as compensation. Expect a trade to be worked out sometime before the draft.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that an "NFL source" believes the Bears are the most likely landing spot for Brandon Marshall this offseason.

Our View:Obviously, this would be a fantasy move made in heaven. Not only would Marshall be reuniting with Jay Cutler, he would also be working with renowned offensive coordinator Mike Martz. What remains to be seen, however, is if the Broncos want to give away their best player to the Bears for the second straight offseason.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen says he would like disgruntled wide receiver, and restricted free agent, Brandon Marshall to stay with the organization, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Bowlen also said, though, that if head coach Josh McDaniels finds a suitable trade for Marshall that makes the Broncos better, he will not veto it. Considering the falling out Marshall and McDaniels had, the chances of the Pro Bowl wideout remaining in the rockies are slim.
February 1, 2010
The Broncos are expected to tender an offer to restricted free agent Brandon Marshall, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:The offer would likely only serve as a base to set up a trade to another team though. There was recently speculation that Mike Shanahan may be interested in bringing him to Washington, as he previously coached Marshall in Denver.
January 7, 2010
New Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan could be interested in acquring his former player Brandon Marshall from the Broncos, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Marshall was very successful under Shanahan in Denver, posting 100-yard reception seasons in both of Shanahan's final two years there. It's unlikely that Denver would want to reward Marshall by sending him to play somebody he is comfortable with, however.
January 5, 2010
Confirming earlier speculation, the Denver Post is reporting that the Denver Broncos will indeed shop restricted free agent Brandon Marshall this offseason.

Our View:They are hoping to get "decent value in return." Considering how little leverage they have, that could be difficult. Marshall, meanwhile, is said to have completely cleaned out his locker on Monday, even taking his name-plate. That does not sound like a man expecting to be back.
January 4, 2010
Broncos beat writer Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post "would be shocked" if mercurial wide receiver Brandon Marshall was back with the Broncos in 2010.

Our View:Marshall appears to have finally worn out his welcome in the Rocky Mountains. If that is indeed the case, expect teams to be lining up for his services this offseason. Despite being inactive for Denver's final game, Marshall finished the 2009 season with 101 catches for 1,120 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has surpassed 100 catches in three straight seasons.

Week 17 inactives: QB Tom Brandstater (3rd), WR Brandon Marshall, WR Eddie Royal, TE Tony Scheffler, P Britton Colquitt, RB LaMont Jordan, and DL Chris Baker.

Our View:WR Jabar Gaffney and WR Brandon Stokley will see more targets with Marshall (hamstring) and Royal (neck) inactive due to injuries. TE Daniel Graham could be a sneaky play with Scheffler inactive. Also, RB Correll Buckhalter (ankle) is active and will backup Knowshon Moreno, who is expected to get the lion's share of the carries.
January 3, 2010
Head coach Josh McDaniels decided to bench wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the regular-season finale after he was late to a scheduled therapy session with the Denver medical staff for treatment of a hamstring injury per multiple team sources, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Both Marshall and tight end Tony Scheffler have been advised they will not be permitted on the sideline or in the locker room when the Broncos play the Kansas City Chiefs today in a game with playoff implications. There are also rumors swirling that Marshall could be moved during the offseason, if another team is willing to part with first- and third-round draft picks. Stay tuned.

In one final reversal in a bizarre story, Broncos coach Josh McDaniels confirmed on Friday afternoon that Brandon Marshall has been benched in Week 17 for disciplinary, and not health related, reasons, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Marshall was apparently "indifferent" during the week, and did not hold himself "accountable." If you say so, Josh. Facing a must-win game against a division rival seems like a truly ridiculous time to make a statement benching, but that's how McDaniels operates. Perhaps if he had disciplined Marshall earlier in the season for being such a prima donna, he wouldn't in the situation of having to be without for the most critical game of the season.

Updating an earlier item, ESPN's Adem Schefter reports that Brandon Marshall has been scratched for Week 17 due to his hamstring injury, and not a "coach's decision."

Our View:There have been no public reports of Marshall acting up of late, so this makes more sense. With Marshall you never know for sure, however. Regardless, he is out Sunday and you now need to find a replacement for the final week of the regular season.
January 1, 2010
Brandon Marshall has been declared out for Week 17, according to the Denver Post. It is reportedly a "coach's decision," and not due to his injured hamstring.

Our View:Very odd. Perhaps the prima donna side of Marshall was again flashed at practice this week. His absence, in addition to possibly dooming your receiving corps, does nothing to help Denver's chances of winning a game they absolutely have to win.
January 1, 2010
Brandon Marshall (hamstring) may end up sitting out in Week 17, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Marshall being out would all but torpedo Denver's playoff hopes, as he is the only legitimate target quarterback Kyle Orton has. Expect him to give it a go this Sunday, even if he is at far from 100 percent. His 101 receptions lead the team this season, and are 61 more than Jabar Gaffney's second place 40.
