Jason Avant, who worked as the Eagles' third receiver in 2007, could be on the bubble to make the team in 2008, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. He did not make much of an impact last season, with only 23 receptions for 267 yards and two scores.

Our View:Starters Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis are locks to make the team, as is promising rookie DeSean Jackson. Greg Lewis should also make the cut, leaving Avant on the bubble with Bam Childress and Jamal Jones fighting for the remaining spots on the roster.

Jason Avant will fill the No. 3 receiver role in Monday's preseason opener. That news means he is ahead of Hank Baskett in the pecking order, at least for one night. "Avant, this preseason will be key for him," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg tells the Philadelphia Daily News. "He didn't get as much playing time as Hank did in the regular season last year. We'll see if his great feel and instincts show off in these preseason games."

The Eagles have a pair of second-year wideouts fighting for the No.3 job behind Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis. Hank Baskett had the more impressive rookie season, but Jason Avant is hot on his heels. "There is some good competition there," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg explains to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "We have multiple guys that are good inside. You can have two different types inside: One is a smaller, very quick and fast receiver, and the other is a big, physical guy. In both cases, you can get pretty good matchups, depending on how you use them against a safety or linebacker."

The Eagles placed rookie wide receiver Jason Avant on the PUP list, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Avant underwent arthroscopic surgery on June 20 to repair torn cartilage in his knee, but he is not expected to miss significant time.
