Marvin Harrison is reportedly being sued by the alleged victim (Dwight Dixon) in the April 29 shooting in North Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Harrison was never charged in the shooting, which occurred after he and Dixon exchanged blows near an auto-repair shop that Harrison owns on Thompson Street near 25th, according to police sources. The case is still considered an open investigation, said Christopher Diviny, who is an assistant D.A.

Our View:Harrison admitted to being in the fight, but insisted he had nothing to do with the shooting. Witnesses and Dixon separately identified Harrison as the shooter, according to sources. The lawsuit, filed September 2, is worded in a way that would find Harrison responsible regardless of the outcome of the criminal investigation. The suit seeks more than $100,000 in damages.
September 21, 2008
Marvin Harrison scored for the first time in 12 months on a four yard pass from Peyton Manning in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. He finished the game with four catches for 40 yards.

Our View:Harrison had just one catch for 16 yards so this rebound should be considered a success. The Colts have a bye week next and you can expect Manning and his receivers to perfect their rhythm with the extra time. Harrison should only improve his numbers of the first three weeks.
September 15, 2008
Marvin Harrison caught one pass for 16 yards in the third quarter of Sunday's game against Minnesota, and extended his streak to 177 games with a reception, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:The streak is the longest to begin a career in NFL history. He had a quiet outing against the Vikings, but should still be considered for fantasy lineups as a No. 3 option in Week 3 against the Jaguars.
September 8, 2008
Marvin Harrison caught eight passes for 76 yards against the Bears Sunday night, and his solid effort moved him into fourth on the all-time list in receiving yards (James Lofton had 14,004 yards), according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:Harrison now has 14,096 career receiving yards, and has his 2008 campaign off to a solid start. Isaac Bruce is third on the list with 14,109 yards.
September 7, 2008
Marvin Harrison didn't look like an aging player with bad knees on Sunday night. The veteran receiver caught eight balls from quarterback Peyton Manning and recorded 76 yards receiving.

Our View:Harrison did have one big fumble that resulted in a Bears touchdown. The score turned the tide of what was a close game at the time.
August 10, 2008
Marvin Harrison is back in the Colts' starting lineup and favorably hauled in three receptions for 22 yards in his first preseason outing against Carolina, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View:He was on the field for 15 plays, and the team felt he looked good and Jim Sorgi mentioned that he was in a groove. As of now, Harrison should be drafted as a No. 2 fantasy receiver.
August 9, 2008
The Colts report both receiver Marvin Harrison (knee) and linebacker Gary Brackett (groin) were given medical clearance to play in Saturday’s preseason game at Carolina, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:It seems unlikely either will play as it would be wise to ease them back and practice caution in dealing with their continued return to health. We expect they may take part in the Colts' second preseason game to be played in a week, but we doubt they hit the field in the opener.
August 8, 2008
Marvin Harrison has reportedly shown the ability to gain separation again, and is practicing with a "bounce in his step," according to the Indianapolis Star. He dropped three balls during practice Thursday, but the Colts are very pleased with his progress from off-season knee surgery.

Our View:Defenses should be focusing on the younger Reggie Wayne this season, leaving the future Hall of Famer to take advantage of more one-on-one coverage. It would not be surprising if Harrison bounces back to put up strong numbers this season, going by what the Colts are reporting right now.
August 8, 2008
Coach Tony Dungy expected Marvin Harrison to miss at least the first two preseason games, but he has now been cleared to play with the first-team offense against Carolina on Saturday, according to the TribStar.com. Dungy said, "He actually wanted to work those two practices Thursday. Made it through okay. Felt good and wants to get a little bit of work in at Carolina. He really hasn't had a setback all camp. He feels good. So that's been one of the better pieces of news coming out of camp."

Our View:Harrison's fantasy stock looks to be back on the rise, and could prove to be a draft day steal if he continues to progress at his current pace.
August 8, 2008
Marvin Harrison practiced twice a day Thursday for the first time, according to the Indianapolis Star. He was previously only working once a day since his return from an offseason arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.

Our View:He isn't expected to play Saturday, but Tony Dungy believes he may be ready to play next week or against Buffalo August 24.
August 1, 2008
Marvin Harrison will not play in the Indianapolis Colts preseason game on Sunday, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View:Harrison is recovering from surgery on both knees and his fantasy status remains moderate until he can prove he is healthy.
July 25, 2008
Marvin Harrison is practicing with the Colts at the start of training camp Friday, according to the AP. Fans chanted Harrison’s name and cheered his catches during practice.

Our View:This is great news, as Harrison was previously expected to miss camp due to off-season surgery in January. His fantasy stock is back on the rise.
July 23, 2008
Coach Tony Dungy believes that no repercussions are looming for Marvin Harrison regarding his connection to April's shooting in his hometown of Philadelphia, according to the Indianapolis Star. Dungy said, "I've been given reason to think that Marvin's part of it will not be anything that will come up for us during the year."

Our View:It looks like this matter won't be a distraction during the season, and Harrison has also been medically cleared to practice at the onset of training camp, meaning his fantasy stock is back on the rise.
July 22, 2008
Colts head coach Tony Dungy has reported that Marvin Harrison has been cleared for practice, according to the Indianapolis Star. Dungy said, "The last I heard from our doctors’ meeting was Marvin would be ready to go when we get there.’’

Our View:We didn't know what to expect with the lingering injury that forced Marvin out of 11 games last season. We will keep a close eye on the situation, but if Marvin's knee can hold up his fantasy value will skyrocket.
July 16, 2008
Marvin Harrison's knee is much better, and the veteran could be cleared to practice at the beginning of training camp, according to ESPN.com' John Clayton. The receiver might not do much in preseason games, but he could be available each practice.

Our View:Good news for Harrison owners, though he's far from out of the woods. We will be monitoring him closely in training camp.
July 9, 2008
Coach Tony Dungy expects Marvin Harrison to be ready for the season opener against the Bears, according to ESPN. Dungy said he is doing well and added, "Right before we closed out our OTAs he was there and he was running. For the first time in a long time I saw a smile on his face because he was running pain free. So we feel good about where he's going to be physically opening up this year. Everything we've heard and communicated from the Philadelphia police department, he's not a suspect in what's going on there. So again, we feel pretty good about where he's going to be."

Our View:Harrison remains an injury risk, but his fantasy stock went back up a bit following this news.
June 21, 2008
Marvin Harrison isn't expected to do much during training camp in an effort to rest his injured knees, according to ESPN.com. Harrison missed most of last season because of a bursa sac problem under the left kneecap, and he had surgery on the right knee over the offseason.

Our View:The Colts are hoping a limited training camp regimen will allow Marv to stay healthy this season. If the future Hall of Famer isn't able to stay on the field, Anthony Gonzalez will receive a huge boost in value.
June 16, 2008
The shooting that took place outside of the club owned by Marvin Harrison in late April remains unsolved, and the Philadelphia DA is pushing the police department to continue to collect evidence in the case to help resolve the matter, according to ESPN.

Our View:It currently appears as if Harrison's gun was the one used to shoot two adult males, though the police have as of yet been unable to determine who fired the weapon. Even if Harrison isn't charged in the actual shooting, he could still be brought up on misdemeanor charges since it appears that it was his gun that was used in the commission of a crime.
June 4, 2008
Marvin Harrison has not been participating in the Colts' OTA sessions, according to Colts.com.

Our View:The sessions are voluntary and Harrison has been practicing at home on his own. His ailing knees are also reportedly progressing well on schedule.
May 19, 2008
Marvin Harrison has long been known as a guy who likes to maintain his privacy, but he took things to a whole new level on Monday, according to NBC10 of Philadelphia. Marvin was approached by a report at the airport whom he failed to respond to before ducking into an office. He them "faked" running down a set of stairs trying to remain hidden.

Our View:As if Harrison doesn't have enough problems, now he is acting like O.J. Simpson in an Avis commercial at the airport. The parallels are striking when you think about it.
May 18, 2008
Peyton Manning met with reporters yesterday and had comments on more than a few of the Colts' issues this off-season, but brought particular focus to the health concerns (as opposed to legal) for receiver Marvin Harrison , according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Despite the recent flurry of gunfire and a pending investigation about an incident at his bar and grill in Philadelphia, the face of the NFL choose to share his worries about Harrison just getting healthy. "I didn't have a whole lot of reaction to it [the shooting] because I hadn't talked to anybody personally about it," said Manning, then turning his attention to the ailing knees of the future Hall of Fame target. "I don't think there's any question he can still do it. Obviously, that's our hope - that he'll be 100 percent healthy to be able to play against Chicago in the season opener. That is what we expect. Marvin has told us he will be 100 percent and ready to go." In other words, even if the legal troubles prove without merit, the obvious pains of last season without Harrison linger and fantasy owners should be worried about the on-the-field progress as well as the off.
May 16, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Marvin Harrison did in fact attend mandatory minicamp on Friday, though he did not participate in any of the action, according to ESPN.

Our View:Harrison has the well documented case with a shooting at his bar, as well as his knee issue to overcome in the coming months before he can be considered anything remotely resembling a sure bet to contribute in '08.
May 16, 2008
Marvin Harrison will be report at the start of mandatory three-day camp if you listen to HC Tony Dungy, according to the Indianapolis Star. Dungy said he assumed that Harrison would be there, though the team isn't officially commenting on the participation of any Colts player.

Our View:With all that's going on in Harrison's life right now, who really knows if he will show up, and we still aren't sure how he will perform once on the field. Harrison will be a huge wild card in fantasy drafts this year unless we get a much better handle on a whole series of issues.
May 13, 2008
Marvin Harrison has assured the Colts that he was not involved in the shooting last month in his home town of Philadelphia, according to the IndyStar.com. Owner Jim Irsay said, "We look at everything seriously if we have an incident with any of our players. At the same time we want to make sure that we know what the facts are." In conversations with coach Tony Dungy and team president Bill Polian, Harrison insisted he was not involved in an April 29 incident in Harrison's Philadelphia neighborhood ending with a man suffering a gunshot wound to his hand and a two-year-old boy suffering a cut under his eye when a stray bullet shattered a car's windshield. Philadelphia police have confirmed that a gun owned by Harrison was used in the shooting. They interviewed Harrison shortly after the incident but do not consider Harrison to be a suspect. Irsay said, "At this point I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We've done everything we could do in our diligence to try to discern what happened. He said he was not involved in that shooting and the authorities have said there is nothing imminent. You hope these things hold up to be true, that there won't be any charges and there wasn't any involvement. Until we hear more, this isn't even a case of innocent until proven guilty because there hasn't been a charge yet."

Our View:Harrison is in rehab after injuring his left knee last season and undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Hopefully this incident will be resolved by the start of the new season.
May 7, 2008
Under Pennsylvania law, wide receiver Marvin Harrison can be charged with a misdemeanor if it's proven his gun was used in a shooting, even if someone else pulled the trigger, according to the Indianapolis Star. Harrison, 35, was one of several people questioned last week regarding a shooting near a car detail shop Harrison owns in the North Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up. A man was shot in the hand and a 2-year-old boy sustained a cut under his eye after a stray bullet shattered a car windshield. If Harrison is found to have been involved in any gun-related crime, it could subject him to discipline, including a suspension, by the NFL under its Guns and Weapons Policy or Personal Conduct Policy.

Our View:Harrison has not been charged with a crime, and the Colts have been mum on the subject since team president Bill Polian last week said he didn't know anything about the incident and would say nothing more until "credible information" came to light.
May 6, 2008
Bullets found at the scene of a shooting in Philadelphia last Tuesday came from a handgun owned by Indianapolis Colts receiver Marvin Harrison, according to reports on ESPN and the Philadelphia Daily News, both citing unnamed police sources. But Philadelphia police are not calling Harrison a suspect, according to the Indianapolis Star. "He's [Harrison] not a suspect at this point," police spokesperson Tanya Little told The Star this morning, declining further comment.

Our View:Police have not released an incident report, saying the investigation is ongoing.
May 6, 2008
Police uncovered more evidence that appears to link Marvin Harrison to a shooting last week in Philadelphia, according to the AP. ESPN reported early Tuesday that six bullet casings found by police after the April 29 shooting came from a gun owned by Harrison. The casings were found near a car wash and garage that Harrison owns in the north side of Philadelphia. According to ESPN, police returned to the scene of the shooting Monday to examine bullet holes in two residences after information was given to police by an alleged third victim of the shooting. The Philadelphia Daily News reported that investigators found three stray bullets in the walls of the two residences and would test those slugs to determine if they also had been fired from Harrison’s gun. Citing police sources, the newspaper said an unidentified 32-year-old man sustained a bullet wound to the hand last Tuesday after a fistfight with Harrison outside Playmakers, a bar owned by the player about a half-mile from the car wash. Gunfire soon broke out, leaving the victim with an injured hand. The victim has refused to identify the shooter.

Our View:Although Harrison has not been implicated by any witnesses, ballistics tests confirmed that five shell casings found at the crime scene had come from a high-powered Belgian handgun that Harrison owns. Police found the gun inside Harrison’s garage. Harrison admitted his involvement in the fistfight during a lengthy interview with detectives, but denied any involvement in the shooting.
May 5, 2008
The Philadelphia police department advises there were no new developments in the case involving receiver Marvin Harrison, according to the Indianapolis Star. Harrison was questioned by police about a shooting near a bar he owns in the North Philadelphia neighborhood where he grew up. A man was shot in the hand and a young boy sustained a cut under his eye after a bullet shattered a car windshield.

Our View:Thus far, Harrison has denied being involved and hasn't been charged with a crime.
May 4, 2008
Marvin Harrison's agent stated that the Colts' receiver is not the target of an investigation into a shooting in Philadelphia earlier this week, according to FanNation. Tom Condon (his agent) said, "I've spoken with Marvin and I've spoken with his attorney, and they say the reports are erroneous. Marvin was not involved in any shooting, and he is not the subject of this investigation."

Our View:We will keep you posted on further details.
May 3, 2008
More details concerning the shooting outside of "Playmakers" bar in North Philadelphia, owned by Indianapolis WR Marvin Harrison , continue to come forth, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:Among the additional headlines of note coming from the long and intense story from the Daily News: (a) The victim of the shooting had been engaged in a fistfight with Harrison moments before the shooting, and that same man had been kicked out of the bar two weeks earlier and been involved in several arguments with Harrison since. (b) The victim had concealed his injuries but later admitted he had been shot, but declined to identify the shooter. (c) The gun reportedly used in the shooting was voluntarily surrendered by Harrison. (d) Harrison spent four hours being interviewed by police with his attorney present. During that interview, Harrison acknowledged being involved in the fight but denied involvement in the shooting. (e) Detectives are reportedly searching for another man who claims to have been shot by Harrison. (f) Five of the six shell casings found at the seen have been identified as firings from Harrison's weapon. (g) Though police have been assertive in refusing to identify a specific motive or suspect, the Daily News states unnamed sources have confirmed Harrison is the focal point of the investigation and is the target of their efforts to make an arrest. We will bring more news as it comes forth.
May 2, 2008
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison is under investigation in his hometown of Philadelphia in a shooting that took place late Tuesday afternoon, a source close to the investigation told Anthony Gargano of Philadelphia's WIP Radio, according to ESPN. The shooting reportedly occurred outside a North Philadelphia bar owned by Harrison. The source said the alleged victim came into the bar, Playmakers, around 5 p.m. and engaged in an argument with Harrison, who was at the bar. The victim then left the bar, heading to his car, with Harrison following. Gunfire broke out, the victim was hit in the hand, and a young girl was slightly injured by flying glass from a car that apparently was hit by a bullet.

Our View:Harrison has yet to be arrested or charged with the crime, but the weapon used in the shooting is similar to one that he owns.
May 2, 2008
Marvin Harrison is reportedly being investigated in reference to a shooting that occurred outside of a bar in his hometown of Philadelphia, according to ESPN News. There is no clear word on if Harrison was the shooter, or somehow involved. We will provide more details as they become available.
April 2, 2008
Tony Dungy believes wide receiver Marvin Harrison will be fully ready for next season, according to Colts.com. “I think Marvin’s going to be fine,” Dungy said. “That’s what we’re hoping for. We’ll see. It was kind of strange last year. It was every couple of weeks, ‘he should be ready to go,’ and it didn’t happen. My sense is with an off-season, he’ll be good to go.” Harrison, 36, an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, missed the last 10 regular-season games last season with a knee injury.
March 27, 2008
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay took some time this week to discuss various topics including the health of wide receiver Marvin Harrison, according to the Indianapolis Star. "I'm not a doctor. It really comes down to their expertise,” said Irsay. “But the type of problems he's had, there's just no reason (for him not to fully recover). There's no reason both knees can't be sound. The one knee (left) that had the cartilage problem, that's pretty much sound and ready to go. The other knee is coming along and there's no reason he can't be ready (for '08).'' Harrison, who will be 36 years of age at the beginning of the 2008 season, missed 11 games due to a knee injury last year, and has tumbled down the ’08 wide receiver rankings as a result.
March 19, 2008
There’s talk in some NFL circles that the Indianapolis Colts might unload wide receiver Marvin Harrison, according to Pro Football Weekly. Although Harrison is a virtual lock for the Hall of Fame, his injury prognosis is a dubious one. General manager Bill Polian has stated that Harrison should be ready for the start of the regular season, but there’s a suspicion that at his age he’ll never be the same dominating player he was prior to the knee injury. Harrison signed a seven-year, $67 million contract extension in December 2004, and the prospect of doling out at least $7.6 million each of the next four years is not an attractive one for Indianapolis. There's no evidence that the Colts are contemplating a move with Harrison any time soon — although they might persuade the veteran to restructure the remaining years of his contract — yet it's a topic that has aroused the interest of league observers.
February 14, 2008
Colts team president Bill Polian said that he doesn't expect Marvin Harrison to be ready at the start of training camp. Harrison had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last month and has been rehabbing the inflamed capsule in his left knee, according to the AP. Polian said he expects Marv to be ready by the season opener.
January 17, 2008
Marvin Harrison might need to have his knee scoped in the offseason, according to the Colts official site. It's not the knee that bothered him during the year, oddly enough, but rather the other one. Harrison also turns 36 at the end of August, making him a very risky pick at the table next year.
January 13, 2008
Marvin Harrison is expected to play Sunday. ESPN's John Clayton said, "I'm sure he's going to be very active early in the game." Harrison has been practicing on the sprained knee that cost him most of the regular season, but time will tell if he's able to perform well and remain on the field today.
January 2, 2008
Marvin Harrison returned to the practice field for the Indianapolis Colts on Wednesday, and has a good chance of playing in their playoff game next week. Harrison has missed 11 games this season, and even though he was listed as probable for last week’s game, he found himself inactive again.
