Robbie Gould has signed a five-year extension that will keep him under contract with the Bears through the 2013 season, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed. Gould said, "I’m really excited. I’m excited to stay in the city of Chicago and to be a Chicago Bear. This is one of those opportunities that’s once-in-a-lifetime and life-changing, and I’m just excited to have it. I’m excited that my hard work has paid off, but I’m definitely not done working hard and making field goals and kicking kickoffs. That’s what I get paid to do. Now it’s just a matter of being able to go out there and have fun, relax and enjoy."

Our View:The 26-year old Gould is the Bears’ all-time leader in field goal field percentage among kickers with at least 50 attempts. In his three seasons with Chicago, he has converted 84.9 percent of his field goals (84-of-99), and has five game-winning kicks to his credit. He is also one of only seven kickers in NFL history with consecutive seasons of 125 points or more.

Robbie Gould is putting his foot down. The kicker is entering the final year of his contract, and he is showing his displeasure by not showing up to the current set of voluntary offseason workouts, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Our View:Go get 'em, Robbie. Kickers never have much leverage, as they are often seen as one of the most replaceable positions in the NFL. Gould will surely kick for the Bears this year and missing this time shouldn't hurt him.

The Bears have been in talks with defensive tackle Tommie Harris about a contract extension, and they are expected to work on a new deal for Robbie Gould, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Both players are entering the final year of their contracts.

The Chicago Bears and Robbie Gould have been in discussions about a long-term contract, according to the Sun-Times. ''It's a unique situation with Robbie,'' agent Brian Mackler said. ''I can't recall the last time a kicker has come out and in his second year gone to the Pro Bowl and put his team in the Super Bowl. He just had another tremendous year. Most of the kickers bounce around, then some of them have success at about 30. Robbie has had tremendous success in his first three years. It's a challenge for the Bears, and it's a challenge for me. We spent a lot of time at the combine talking about it.'' Gould, who is the most accurate kicker in franchise history, is 63-for-72 (87.5%) over the past two seasons.

Robbie Gould missed a couple of field-goal attempts in Monday's win at St. Louis, misfiring from 37 and 49 yards. The shorter kick may have been set off by a poor snap. Gould still wound up with six points on the night as the Bears had little trouble scoring touchdowns.
