Wondering why Adrian Peterson did not start Sunday's game? It turns out he was late for a team bus that morning and was held out of the opening series as punishment, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. He ended up with just 33 yards on 11 carries but finished his amazing rookie campaign with 1,341 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns.

Returning to action after missing two games with a torn LCL in his right knee, Adrian Peterson was back to his old tricks Sunday against Detroit, piling up 116 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Adrian Peterson was on the practice field on a limited basis for a second straight day on Thursday. "Right now I feel like I will be able to go out and play," Peterson told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I am just going to continue to take it one day at a time and see how it feels during practice and after practice and I will have to be able to make that decision this weekend." Peterson is expected to return after suffering a partially torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Brad Childress has already stated that he intends to split carries between Peterson and Chester Taylor this weekend, but Peterson proved early this season that he can rack up big numbers on limited carries.

Adrian Peterson was limited in practice on Wednesday because of the knee injury that forced him to miss the last two games, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. He is still expected to play on Sunday against the Lions.

Vikings uber-rookie Adrian Peterson is supposedly on track to return for Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Coach Brad Childress told media members that had yesterday’s game against the Giants been a playoff game, Peterson “definitely would have played.” An MRI on Monday showed “excellent healing,” said Childress at a press conference today.

Adrian Peterson has been upgraded to questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Football Giants. Peterson tore his LCL in his right knee two weeks ago against Green Bay, but team doctors were insistent that the injury was minor, and that he would return at some point yet this season. Head coach Brad Childress told media members that Peterson was progressing ahead of schedule this week in practice, and that “There’s a 50-50 chance he’ll play (this week).”
November 22, 2007

Adrian Peterson plans to test his injured knee by running on Monday. "I'm going to take it one day at a time," he told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I'm not going to rush anything." There's a slim chance that he will be back on the field in Week 12, but you can safely expect the Vikings to err on the side of caution with their star rookie.
November 14, 2007

November 12, 2007
Adrian Peterson has a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. That was the word from Vikings head coach Brad Childress at his weekly press conference on Monday. The tear was graded as two-plus, with three being the worst; however, Childress said that surgery would not be needed. No timetable has been established for Peterson’s return, but he will definitely miss Week 11 against the Raiders. The rookie running back’s knee checked out healthy and stable other than the LCL tear.

Vikings head coach said running back Adrian Peterson suffered a sprained right knee, but the rookie will need to undergo an MRI to get a more definitive diagnosis, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “I was in pain there for a minute there and it slowly went away,” Peterson told the paper. “Right now, I’m banking it’s a sprained knee.” We’re not in the clear yet, fantasy owners. While the initial word from the team is positive, nothing will be known for sure until the results from the MRI are released.

Adrian Peterson went down with an apparent knee injury late in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Packers. Peterson took a short pass from Brooks Bollinger and took what appeared to be a hit to his right knee as he was tackled by two Packers defenders. He had to be helped off the field, though he was able to put some weight on the knee as he left and was later seen walking gingerly on the sidelines.

Just how good is Adrian Peterson? Against a Chargers defense that entered Sunday allowing just 3.6 yards per carry, AD rushed for an NFL-record 296 yards and three touchdowns. The previous record of 295 yards in a game was held by Jamal Lewis. Peterson has to be considered a top 5 fantasy running back the rest of the way, and we should start to hear talk of him being the first running back selected in drafts next season.
October 29, 2007
Adrian Peterson only rushed for 70 yards on Sunday, but the big news was that he had 20 carries, compared to Chester Taylor's six attempts. "We just thought we needed to get the touches to [Peterson] and at least increase that load," coach Brad Childress told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Peterson started, and barring an injury, it looks like he's going to be the Vikings' primary running back from here on out.
October 17, 2007
Adrian Peterson may lead the league in rushing yards, but he’s not even the top running back on his team’s depth chart. “Yeah, he’s a number two,” head coach Brad Childress told Wednesday’s Minneapolis Star Tribune. “That’s how he is. It doesn’t bother him, it doesn’t bother me.” Chester Taylor remains listed at the top of the Vikings depth chart.

Adrian Peterson ’s huge performance against the Bears on Sunday will not lead to an increased workload. Chester Taylor went down early with an injury, and Peterson proceded to rush 19 times for 103 yards and turned his lone catch into a 60-yard touchdown. We all knew the talent was there, but Peterson's fantasy value seemed capped by a time-share with Taylor. We'll have to wait and see how quickly Taylor will recover, but the Vikings have something very special in Peterson.

He told reporters that the injury “is not a big deal at all,” according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press. “I’m obviously going to take the advice of the medical crew. They’ve got a good crew so I’m going to let them make decisions like that.” Peterson actually suffered a hip pointer injury, not an ankle injury as was initially reported.

Vikings head coach Brad Childress declined to say whether Adrian Peterson will be unrestricted for Monday’s full-pad practice. When asked whether it would take a surprising development for Peterson to be limited, Childress’ comments took a strange twist. “Yeah, he could have a surprise,” Childress told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “He could be like a cow with a twisted intestine or something like that, I suppose. I don’t know how that will manifest itself. I don’t think we can reach in there like a veterinarian and then twist it.” Peterson’s injury concerns pertain to the left collarbone he fractured last year.

Both sides appear to be waiting for other teams and players to establish the market, but none of the top 14 overall picks have signed. Peterson was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the draft.
May 16, 2007
Adrian Peterson will not need surgery to repair his left collarbone. He suffered the injury while playing in a game early last season for Oklahoma and then aggravated the injury during the Fiesta Bowl in January. “It was felt that now it would be best to let it heal and progress in a natural way,” team doctor Joel Boyd told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The Vikings selected Peterson with the No. 7 overall pick in the draft.
April 28, 2007
Running back Adrian Peterson was nabbed with the seventh overall pick by the Vikings on Saturday. He was selected instead of quarterback Brady Quinn, who was also available at the time, and will likely split time with incumbent starter Chester Taylor in the Vikings backfield in 2007.
April 27, 2007
Adrian Peterson insists his collarbone has healed properly and he will be in minicamp for whichever team selects him in Saturday's NFL draft, the AP reports. He's also not concerned that a recent report claiming he will need further surgery on the left collarbone will hurt his draft stock.
