Quarterback Vince Young is active and will backup starter Kerry Collins this week against Baltimore.

Our View:There are rumors swirling that head coach Jeff Fisher has installed a special offensive package for Young, who could see a few snaps against the Ravens.
October 2, 2008
Vince Young fully practiced Thursday with no issues regarding his knee, according to the Tennessean.

Our View:He should unseat Chris Simms as the primary backup, but is not yet expected to push Kerry Collins from the starting spot, especially since the Titans hold a 4-0 record at the top of the AFC South.
October 1, 2008
For the first time since being injured in Week 1, Vince Young was back on the practice field for the Titans, according to the AP.

Our View:There is no official word yet on what Young's role will be when he gets back. Head coach Jeff Fisher has said that Kerry Collins will continue to start as long as they continue to win and as of right now Chris Simms is the backup.
September 24, 2008
Vince Young has began working his way back onto the practice field and when his knee is ready for game action he will be moved to the Titans backup quarterback behind Kerry Collins. Head coach Jeff Fisher told the AP, "I can't say how close he's getting. He ran yesterday, had good success on the field, and he threw. He's going to go through some sets and drops today and run a little bit after."

Our View:Collins is 2-0 as the Titans starting QB and it will be interesting to see how Young will take to being the backup.
September 23, 2008
Vince Young watched Sunday's game from the coach's booth, but he is expected to return to the sideline for the Week 4 match-up against Minnesota, according to the Tennessean. He is still recovering from his left knee injury and coach Jeff Fisher said, "I haven’t had a chance to talk to him specifically about the experience. The coaches thought it was good. He was really into it. He could see Kerry make the decisions. It’d probably be a good idea now to get him down on the sideline and let him take that information that he got yesterday and see it from the sideline perspective."

Our View:There remains no timetable for his return to action. Kerry Collins will remain the starter as he attempts to lead the club to a 4-0 record this weekend.
September 21, 2008
Week 3 inactives: QB Vince Young (3rd), WR Paul Williams, WR Justin Gage, RB Chris Henry, LB Colin Allred, OT Mike Otto, DE Jacob Ford, and DT Kevin Vickerson.

Our View:Gage is the biggest news on offense. Fantasy owners employing the Titans D should be happy to see that safety Michael Griffin and cornerback Nick Harper are active.
September 14, 2008
Week 2 inactives: WR Paul Williams, QB Vince Young, RB Quinton Ganther, RB Chris Henry, LB Stanford Keglar, OT Mike Otto, DE Jacob Ford, and WR Lavelle Hawkins.

Our View:Quarterback Vince Young is expected to miss between 2-4 weeks due to his knee injury, and possibly more due to his mental status. Veteran Kerry Collins will start this week against the Bengals, and could represent an upgrade for the Titans' receiver corps.
September 14, 2008
Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher indicated it may be awhile before quarterback Vince Young gets his job back, according to ESPN.

Our View:Veteran Kerry Collins will be the starter for the Titans on Sunday when they travel to play the Bengals. Young did not make the trip, and Fisher said it would be good for Young to learn behind a seasoned quarterback like Collins for awhile. There are rumors that Young has lost the players in the locker room, and will have to work extremely hard to regain their trust.
September 12, 2008
The Nashville City Paper reports that Titans Coach Jeff Fisher told police the Vince Young's therapist said Young "mentioned suicide several times." The report from Central Precinct Lt. Andrea Swisher states Titans' head of security Steve Burke notified police that he had "a player over at the stadium going off..Sgt. Windus later advised me that it was Vince Young and that he was driving a black Mercedes and armed with a gun," Swisher’s report states. Swisher states she went to the stadium where officers had already made contact with Fisher. Fisher told Swisher he had gotten a call from Young’s therapist, Sheila Peters, and "she was worried about him."

Our View:Sounds like Young has really been letting things get to him and we truly hope that he is able to keep it all in perspective and can make a successful comeback. That said, he will have to earn his role when he returns not so much with his ability as his leadership, which has undoubtedly come into question. Veteran quarterback Kerry Collins could relieve some of the pressure off of Young with strong performances while he is out dealing with his sprained MCL.
September 11, 2008
Coach Jeff Fisher indicated that Vince Young will have to work and show he has made progress before resuming his role as a starter, and Fisher added that can take some time, according to the Tennessean. Fisher said, "He has some work to do. Obviously he has some work to do. He has to put some things back in perspective, and first and foremost he has to get healthy." His sprained MCL could keep him out 2-4 weeks, possibly longer.

Our View:Young is dealing with some personal issues and his commitment to football is in question. Fantasy owners who drafted Young as a No. 2 quarterback should comb the waiver wire for insurance at the position.
September 9, 2008
The Titans may be ready to move forward without quarterback Vince Young. The Tennessean reports that there are indications that Kerry Collins might hold the job even when Young is healthy. Of course, reports also suggest Young may not even want to return to football. "He may not want to deal with it (all), but you have to get to that point before you make that decision first," Felecia Young, his mother, says. "But we’re not talking about football right now. We’re talking about what would make him happy, and that is the most important thing."

Our View:It sounds like Young needs to deal with depression issues before thinking about tackling the NFL life again. Our heads are spinning after all the twists and turns this story has taken in the past 24 hours. All we know for sure is that Collins is starting in Week 2 and likely for a few more games after that.
September 9, 2008
It was a long day for both the Titans and Vince Young and it all ended with the news that Young has a sprained MCL according to an MRI. The results are pretty much what everybody expected but now it is official, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Jeff Fisher just said that Young would be out this week but offered no clue on how many weeks it would extend. Until Young returns Kerry Collins will be the Titans starting quarterback with newly signed Chris Simms the backup.

The Tennessean reports that the Titans feared for Vince Young's safety. Metro Police issued a bulletin for officers to be on the lookout for Young on Monday night after coach Jeff Fisher expressed concern about his emotional well being. According to Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, Fisher had been alerted after a friend of Young’s contacted the coach around 7 p.m. Monday night. Young eventually made contact with Fisher, and the two met around midnight with Metro police officials at Baptist Sports Park. Aaron said, "Once he came to Baptist Sports Park and was assessed, it appeared the concerns from earlier in the night were unfounded." Young had a handgun in the glove compartment of his vehicle, but it was not loaded and Aaron said officers had no concerns about Young trying to harm himself. Coach Fisher was not available for comment on Tuesday but the team stated, "Last night, we received a call from people that are closest to Vince informing us that he had left his house in a state of mind that had them concerned; and that he was unreachable, having left his cell phone at the house. Not having all the facts available to us and approaching the matter prudently, we contacted Metro Police to make them aware of the situation and asked for their assistance in locating Vince. He was located at a friend’s house, where we made contact with him. He then came to the practice facility where it was determined that those initial concerns by his friends and family were unfounded and he returned home without incident."

Our View:It is unclear if this is related to why the Titans rescheduled Young's MRI on his injured knee. We will keep you posted when more details are revealed.
September 8, 2008
Vince Young's MRI has been rescheduled for Tuesday, according to the AP.

Our View:Reports have surfaced that Young has a torn MCL, and will miss anywhere from two-to-four weeks. We shall see what the MRI reveals. Check back tomorrow for an update.
September 7, 2008
After the Titans reported that they didn't believe quarterback Vince Young’s sprained left knee was serious, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that Young has a torn MCL, and will miss anywhere from two-to-four weeks.

Our View:Young will undergo an MRI on Monday when more information is expected to be available.
September 7, 2008
Vince Young was using crutches after Sunday's season opener against the Jaguars, the AP notes. The quarterback sprained his left knee. Young is due to undergo testing.

Our View:Using crutches doesn't necessarily mean the injury is serious, but legs injuries are generally bad news for a quarterback who moves around and runs as much as Young.
September 7, 2008
Quarterback Vince Young took a shot to the left knee during the fourth quarter of the season opener. Kerry Collins came into the game in Young's place.

Our View:It's been an awful series for the Titans, who lost Chris Johnson earlier on the drive. We'll update Young's status when more is known.
September 7, 2008
Quarterback Vince Young (hamstring) is active and will start in Week 1 against the Jaguars.

Our View:Young had a rough preseason and isn't a good fantasy start against a tough Jags defense.
September 5, 2008
NFL.com reports that the Tennessee Titans have added starting quarterback Vince Young to their official injury report for Sunday's season opener, but he is still expected to play.

Our View:Young has tightness in his hamstring which will limit his scrambling ability and therefore his effectiveness. Until Young proves otherwise, he is not a reliable fantasy player. His lack of quality targets does not help matters.
September 4, 2008
Titans quarterback Vince Young had a difficult preseason throwing the ball, and the team is concerned that they may struggle in the passing game, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:The fact that Vince Young cannot throw is not breaking news. He has struggled doing so ever since he arrived in the league, and he does not have receivers good enough to make him look better. Young is a very risky fantasy player, as his touchdown to interception ratio proved last season (nine to 17).
September 1, 2008
Tennessee quarterback Vince Young had injured his right hand in the team's final preseason game, and had wore a wrap on it for two days, but the wrap came off Sunday, and the Titans say he is fine, according to The Tennessean. "Vince is fine. We are not downplaying anything; there are no issues," said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher.

Our View:Vince Young is one of those guys that some fantasy owners really like, while others do not believe in. He improved his passing percentage lat season, but still had an embarrassing TD/INT ratio of 9 to 17.
August 29, 2008
The Titans are being quiet regarding Vince Young's hand injury, according to ESPN. Young bruised his throwing hand in the first half of Thursday night's 23-21 preseason finale win over the Packers, and he didn't return for the first series of the third quarter as originally intended. When asked if the Titans planned to X-ray or run other exams on Young's right hand, coach Jeff Fisher replied only that Young was doing well. Fisher added, "We'll have a full injury report for you next Friday. He'll be designated as whether he practiced or did not practice. At this point, I would expect he would practice."

Our View:Young had his ailing right hand taped as he left the Titans' offices on Friday. As of now, he should continue to be drafted as a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.
August 18, 2008
Vince Young said there is still a little hole in the quadriceps muscle he injured last season, during an interview with John Clayton of ESPN. Young stated, "My quad, man, it was bad. Every week you get it better, then you go out and play and hurt it again. The quad would get weak. I was taking those pills for the pain. I was running around trying to make plays when it's not there. The quad is definitely back where it needs to be although I still have a little hole in there."

Our View:Young is only 7-of-19 with no touchdown passes so far in the preseason, but is making plays with his legs, as he broke loose for a 35-yard run in the preseason opener against the Rams. His quad doesn't look to be a problem, and Young is worth drafting as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
August 16, 2008
Quarterback Vince Young has not looked good through two preseason games (7-for-19, no touchdowns), but his coach isn't worried. "He was very good at where to go and through his progressions. That was not a problem. He was sharp," head coach Jeff Fisher tells the AP. "The completions, the incomplete passes and things, you look at the numbers and say he struggled. There’s reasons for things that happened each play. He did misfire on a couple of them. He had people in his face in a couple plays; he couldn’t step up." Fisher adds that Young was hindered by a basic game plan.

Our View:The Titans have a new coordinator and are working in some new weapons like Alge Crumpler, Justin McCareins, and Chris Johnson. Yeah, we'd like to see Young look a lot better, but we're not going to panic after two meaningless contests. Vince remains a low-end No. 2 fantasy quarterback.
July 18, 2008
Vince Young will have his jersey number retired at the University of Texas, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Young was a national champion and one of the most productive players ever to come out of the University, and there is little doubt he deserves the honor.
June 30, 2008
Third-year quarterback Vince Young is on the hot seat this year, and will be learning a new offense for the third time in four seasons. The offensive rookie of the year in 2006 struggled in his second season throwing nine touchdown passes and 17 interceptions. Tennessee has a new offensive coordinator and new additions on both sides of the ball so expecting a repeat of a surprising 2007 campaign is optimistic at best.

Our View:How bad was the Titans offense last season? They scored one touchdown or less in nine of 16 games.
June 22, 2008
The Titans are ready to bolster the passing game in 2008 and have quarterback Vince Young working towards supporting that cause, according to the Tennessean.

Our View:With the addition of new offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, the Titans are focusing specific efforts to improve Young's accuracy down the field, hoping to improve his 8-for-47 mark on passes thrown over 20 yards or more, a marked regression from his performance as a rookie. We all joke about Young's preference for the run, but these reports indicate Young is putting in the work needed to motivate the Titans towards providing more of these opportunities this season, but only time will tell if Young can fit the system or if he continues to struggle in this facet of his game.
May 30, 2008
A recent NFL.com report suggesting that quarterback Vince Young considered retirement after one season was blown out of proportion, according to The Tennessean. “I was never going to quit football,’’ Young said. “Football, that is my pride and joy, it is my dream. I am playing my dream. And I don’t plan on giving that up any time soon.’’

Our View:We suspect the earlier report was taken out of context, as it’s not very likely that a 25 year old NFL quarterback is going to walk away from millions of dollars on the table, regardless of how much pressure their job entails.
May 23, 2008
Vince Young told NFL.com that he considered retiring during training camp last summer. "I really thought long and hard about it," Young said. "There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things. My teammates helped lift me out of it. I prayed really hard. And I began to focus on God's calling for me. Play football. Be a role model."

Our View:Hmmmm. Really? We wouldn't take this too seriously. Young just turned 25 and still has some growing up to do. Don't worry about him hanging up his cleats anytime soon.
April 9, 2008
The Titans expect their offensive leader, QB Vince Young , to report to offseason workouts on Thursday, according to The Tennessean. Young has been spending time at the University of Texas, his alma mater, working on his education in an attempt to earn his degree. Meanwhile, the young and inexperienced receiving corps for the Titans are in Tennessee, are working hard, and are hoping to get their first shot on the field with Young later this week. For a group this young (not to mention an offensive line that may need to consider the effects of the loss of offensive lineman Benji Olson, having retired this year), it is important to get this early work going to develop chemistry and communication. Getting Young on the field will get that process moving forward.
April 2, 2008
Quarterback Vince Young's biggest progress so far under new Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger has to do with footwork, according to the Tennessean. "That's where the focus was, and Mike was very pleased, as was Vince, as to what was taking place on a daily basis," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "I think he's made significant strides to this point with his footwork.'' Young is expected to come to Nashville three or four days some weeks while continuing to take classes at the University of Texas. "I'm pleased,'' Fisher said. "There was some speculation that because Vince elected to go back to school that he wasn't going to be around in the offseason. Well, that's not the case. We're still getting him three days a week, he's not missing any (organized team activities), school's going to be done the first of May, and that's when we really start everything up in the first place.'' Good news for potential Young owners, that the third-year player is also concentrating on football, while finishing up the work on his college degree.
April 1, 2008
The Tennessee Titans were awarded a fourth-round pick in this year’s NFL draft as a compensatory selection for the unrestricted free agents they lost last off-season, according to the Nashville City Paper. The Titans will have pick No. 134 overall in the draft as their compensatory selection, bringing their total number of picks in the draft to seven.
March 10, 2008
Vince Young met with new offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger for the first time on Friday, accoring to Fan Nation. They will spend this week discussing the offense and analyzing the changes. Heimerdinger has to be seen as an upgrade over Norm Chow. Hopefully the Titans offense will show a pulse this season.
February 21, 2008
Vince Young has been doing his homework on new Tennessee OC Mike Heimerdinger, according to the Tennessean.com. Young, who threw twice as many interceptions as touchdown passes last season, recently spoke to QB Steve McNair, who gave Heimerdinger a ringing endorsement. "Steve says he is cool. He treats you like a grown man. He is one of the coaches who makes you as good as you can be,'' Young said. "He might say some things when he's mad, but he really doesn't mean them. ... You are going to have some ups and downs, but at the same time as long as you are getting better that is all that matters to him.” Tennessee finished towards the bottom of the league in all of the important passing categories last season, so Heimerdinger and his tough love approach could be just what the doctor ordered for Young, who regressed last season.
January 15, 2008
Vince Young will have a new scheme to learn next year, as the Titans fired offensive coordinator Norm Chow Tuesday.
January 6, 2008
As expected, Vince Young is starting today versus the Chargers. Young has been dealing with a right quad injury.
January 6, 2008
It looks like Vince Young will give it a go for today's playoff game. "He'll play because he has to play," said ESPN's John Clayton this morning. Young is battling a quadriceps injury, and while he's expected to start, there's no guarantee he'll be able to complete the game.
January 5, 2008
Vince Young was able to take part in most of Friday's practice, though he didn't work out at full speed. He'll be a game-time decision on Sunday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. He'll test out his sore quadriceps before the contest; so long as he can move close to full speed, he'll start, if not, Kerry Collins will get the nod.
January 4, 2008
Vince Young (quad) split practice reps with Kerry Collins Thursday. It's still not clear who the Titans will start for Sunday's game at San Diego.
January 1, 2008
Vince Young, who suffered a right quadriceps injury last week, is listed as day-to-day, according to SportsTicker. "He was very excited about his play in the game and the win and his opportunity to play in a playoff game," Fisher said. "We haven't ruled him out. It will be a day-to-day thing." Young has already said he didn't think the injury would prevent him from playing this weekend, so we'd be surprised if he didn't suit up.
