Browns GM Phil Savage told the Cleveland Plain Dealer he is leaning towards offering restricted free agent quarterback Derek Anderson the highest contract tender following the 2007 season. “I think we’d be most comfortable with that one-and-three scenario rather than doing something less than that,” Savage told the Plain Dealer. “Then you have to have a suitor. You’ve got to have somebody out there that’s wanting not only to give up picks but to pay a lot of money. And sometimes that can be a double dip.”

Browns fans are already calling for Brady Quinn to take over at quarterback, but new starter Derek Anderson on Sunday certainly looked like he wanted to hang on to the job for awhile. Anderson completed 20-of-33 passes for 328 yards and five touchdowns with one interception in a 51-45 shootout win over Cincinnati. The 328 yards were a career high for Anderson, and he nearly doubled his career TD total (he entered the game with six TDs).
