Former Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was indicted this week by Erie County grand jurors on a felonious assault charge, according to the Sandusky Register. On May 27, Thurman was involved in an altercation at a resort where he punched another man in the face, breaking his jaw, per the Erie County police department.

Troubled linebacker Odell Thurman has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL for violating the substance abuse policy, and he will miss the 2008 season, according to SI.com.

Our View:Under terms of the suspension, the former member of the Bengals will not be considered for reinstatement until after the season. This will be the third straight season that he has missed.

Odell Thurman is facing an indefinite suspension after he once again violated the league's substance abuse policy, SI.com reports. The Bengals released Thurman last week. Thurman was not available to comment, and his agent, Safarrah Lawson, says, "We have not been notified of that at this point. I have no knowledge." He has not played since his rookie year in 2005 due to suspensions based on alcohol and drug abuse.

Our View:This is just the latest in a string of bad reports about Thurman. If true, there's obviously no way another team will sign him. Except maybe the Raiders or Cowboys.

Odell Thurman's agent said that he plans to have talks with around a half dozen teams next week regarding his client, according to the Oakland Tribune.

Our View:The agent did not disclose which teams he will be talking to. Thurman was released by the Bengals, but could still make an impact in 2008 if he is given a fair shot to compete for a starting job with another team. He made 105 tackles back in 2005, with two sacks, five interceptions, and five forced fumbles with Cincinnati.
