It is being reported by the Dallas Morning News that, contrary to previous reports, the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones have no interest in bringing back defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones.

Our View:Maybe Jerry hasn't lost his mind after all. We'll let you know when some poor team inevitably takes the plunge and signs the troubled player.

In a surprising turn of events, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has indicated that the Cowboys may bring back mercurial defensive back Adam Jones after releasing him in January.

Our View:This would be an inane move for the Cowboys after it seemed they finally realized team character and chemistry were important this offseason, but not surprising at all given Jones' cavalier nature. Should Pacman return, his only real fantasy impact would be the stunting effect he'll have on young Cowboys defensive backs Orlando Scandrick and Mike Jenkins.

Updating a previous report, the Newark Star-Ledger is reporting that the Jets have no interest in Adam Jones. AOL Fanhouse reported on Saturday that the Jets had shown some interest in the troubled cornerback.

Our View:It makes much more sense that the Jets would have no interest in Pacman. They are deep at the corner position, and they have no glaring need for a return man. Pacman to the Jets isn't going to happen unless something changes in the Jets' secondary.

According to AOL Fanhouse, the Jets have shown some interest in Adam Jones.

Our View:Apparently a source "close to Jones" says the Jets are interested but won't make a move yet and want to see how their roster shakes out. No one wants to take on the nightmare that is Pacman unless they can't do without him. Expect the Jets to wait a while.

Adam Jones is not expected to be on the Lions' radar, according to the Detroit News. Head coach Jim Schwartz said, "We want to keep an open mind toward just about anybody. But when you talk about Pacman, or maybe Michael Vick, I do not think we are in a position as a team that we can go in those directions."

Our View:Schwartz previously worked with Jones during their time together in Tennessee, and the Lions could use an upgrade at cornerback, but do not want to add any distractions to a team that will be coming off a winless season.

Updating an earlier report, Adam Jones has officially been released by the Dallas Cowboys, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Dallas said last month that they planed to release Jones after more allegations came out which implicated him in a shooting plot while he was with the Titans. However, Monday was the first day that teams were allowed to make waiver requests. Jones has a plethora of talent, but he's such a big risk due to his off-field issues that finding a new team could be very difficult.

Adam Jones is expected to be released by the Cowboys today, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View:Monday is the first day NFL clubs are allowed to waive players for 2009. His release will save the Cowboys $1 million against the 2009 salary cap because his four-year, $13.3 million deal did not have any guaranteed money. There is no denying Jones is very talented, but the Cowboys are letting him go for his knack for finding trouble.
January 22, 2009
Adam Jones is being investigated for his role in a possible shooting-for-hire incident in June of 2007, according to ESPN.com. It all went down near Club Blaze, an Atlanta-area strip club.

Our View:Jones was recently released by the Cowboys and it would be a bad gamble to expect him to return to the NFL.
January 21, 2009
Adam Jones is being sued by a lawyer in Atlanta for failing to pay him more than $10,000 in fees, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:Jones is being sued, but the lawyer, Manny Arora, never represented Jones. Instead, Arora represented some of Jones' family and friends.

ESPN.com reports that Adam Jones has denied an Outside the Lines investigation that accuses him of organizing a shooting in 2007. He also predicts that he will play in the NFL next season. He was released by the Cowboys after their season came to an end.

Our View:Even if the charges are dropped, he will be hard-pressed to find an employer in the NFL. His play was average at best this past season, and we are all aware of his ability to generate negative headlines. He has previously stated that he expects another shot with the Cowboys.
January 10, 2009
Adam Jones spoke with host James Brown on the CBS pregame show and offered some thoughts about his future. "I think I'll be playing football next year," Jones said. "If I had to pick somewhere, I think I might be back in Dallas. I love Dallas. I wouldn't mind playing nowhere else, but I do love the Cowboys." According to the Dallas Morning News, Brown asked Jones if he had an "inkling" that the Cowboys would give him another shot, and the player responded, "Yeah, I do."

Our View:Either Pacman is crazy or Jerry Jones isn't thinking straight. Or maybe it's both. If the cornerback is back with the Cowboys next season, Jerry should fire himself.
January 8, 2009
Continuing on with the Adam Jones story, ESPN.com has released a snippet of video detailing the accounts of June, 18, 2007, the night Jones allegedly ordered the shooting of three Atlanta men at a local strip club.

Our View:The clip is from ESPN's "Outside the Lines," which plans to air the story in its entirety Sunday morning at 9 a.m. ET.
January 7, 2009
In what I hope will be the last post tonight involving Adam Jones, the Dallas Morning News reports that Jones is planning to take legal action against ESPN. Released by the Cowboys Wednesday after an ESPN reporter contacted the Dallas organization about a 2007 Atlanta shooting in which he was allegedly involved, Jones denies he had any part in the incident that directly led to his release. "It will be a lawsuit in a week against ESPN," Jones said late Wednesday evening. "That's stupid. It's so stupid I have no more comments."

Our View:Something tells me this debacle won't end pretty, nor will it subside any time soon. Stay tuned...
January 7, 2009
ESPN.com, in conjunction with the Associated Press, is now reporting that the Dallas Cowboys released Adam Jones after learning of new allegations involving the beleaguered former Pro Bowler.

Our View:The move to release Jones occurred after John Barr, a reporter with ESPN's "Outside the Lines," contacted the Dallas organization, as well as Jones' attorneys, about a segment scheduled to air Sunday chronicling Jones' alleged involvement in a June 2007 shooting in Atlanta.
January 7, 2009
New information concerning the release of Adam Jones keeps surfacing. Now it seems as though Jones' agent, Worrick Robinson, is busy deflecting speculation that his client was let go because of recent developments surrounding a 2007 shooting in Atlanta that allegedly involved the former Pro Bowler, according to ESPN.com. "We don't have any reason to believe at this point that that off-the-field incident had anything to do with the team's decision today," Robinson said.

Our View:According to reports, Jones allegedly arranged the shooting of three Atlanta-area men after one of the men had been involved in a dispute with Jones inside a local strip club. ESPN claims to have obtained information indicating an informant told police that Jones did, indeed, order the shooting. The incident took place in June of 2007, two months after Jones was suspended by Commissioner Roger Goodell. Charges have not been filed for the incident due to the fact the victims were unable to identify the shooter.
January 7, 2009
Moments after speaking with newly released Adam Jones, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News reports that the once standout cornerback/special teams player didn't see Wednesday's move coming. "Surprised. Yeah, I was surprised. All I can do is keep working hard, keep my nose clean and hope for the best," Jones told Watkins. When asked if he thought an NFL team would give him a third chance, Jones replied, "We'll see."

Our View:Time will tell if another NFL franchise will gamble on Jones and his antics. His release from Dallas will not become official until Feb. 9, when NFL teams are allowed to make waiver requests
January 7, 2009
ESPN.com reports that the Dallas Cowboys released troubled kick returner/defensive back Adam Jones Wednesday.

Our View:After he was graciously given the chance to turn his career and life around in Dallas, Jones continued his troublesome ways almost immediately and never gave himself a chance to make an impact with the Cowboys. After serving a six-week suspension for getting into an altercation with a bodyguard on Oct. 7, Jones returned to the field only to suffer a herniated disk against Pittsburgh in his first game back.
