The Broncos have promoted Ben McDaniels to quarterbacks coach, according to the Denver Post. He was previously an assistant.

Our View:McDaniels is head coach Josh's younger brother. The move will allow Mike McCoy to devote all his time to his offensive coordinator role.

Restricted free agent Kyle Orton will most likely return to the Broncos in 2010 on a one-year deal, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:With this year's crop of incoming college players not being particularly deep at quarterback, and the pool of free agent signal callers lacking any attractive options, Orton seems close to a lock to stay. While his 86.8 quarterback rating and 21 touchdowns from 2009 did not set the world on fire, they were good enough to have Denver in contention for the playoffs all season, and he will likely be able to do the same in 2010.

Kyle Orton would like to return to the Broncos in 2010, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Considering how hard it is to find competent quarterbacks, the feeling is probably mutual. That being said, Denver went 2-8 in its final 10 games of the season, a span over which Orton threw 11 interceptions compared to just 12 touchdowns. He surpassed 300 yards passing just twice in 2009-10.

Kyle Orton completed 32-of-56 passes for 431 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs that cost the Broncos a shot at the postseason.

Our View:Orton's lack of receivers clearly hurt him in this one, as the Broncos were without Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal and TE Tony Scheffler. Still, he exceeded all expectations this season by almost leading Denver to the playoffs, out performing Jay Cutler and throwing 19 TDs against 15 picks. The 431 yards was his best total of the season.
