Frank Gore was well enough to play on Saturday, but with Kevan Barlow out the 49ers gave the start to Maurice Hicks. Gore still got plenty of work and rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Frank Gore got some extra work after Sunday's game got out of hand and broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run. Gore finished with 89 yards on nine carries. The rookie may not be an immediate threat to Kevan Barlow, but he could gets some starts toward the end of the season so the Niners can evaluate if he should be their starter in 2006.
