Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has set himself aside as the team leader this offseason, and he has displayed a strong throwing arm in practices, according to ESPN. "He has a cannon," wide receiver Greg Jennings said. "We call him the Human Jugs Machine."

Our View:Aside from the strong arm, it will be interesting to watch how Rodgers evolves as a leader of the team, while trying to fill Brett Favre’s enormous shoes. We currently have Rodgers ranked as a mid-level backup in our early fantasy rankings. But we will be tracking his progress throughout training camp and the preseason games, so that ranking could be fluid in nature.

Aaron Rodgers said he is ready for the spotlight following the retirement of future Hall of Famer Brett Favre, according to the AP. He commented, "I know the pressure I’m under. I know who I’m following. I know that it’s a tough situation and a lot of people are expecting me to fail outside of this locker room. I’m just trying to get the guys we’ve got here now to believe in me. I know the comparisons, probably my entire career, as long as I’m a Packer and as long as I play in the NFL, my connection will be the guy who followed Brett Favre. I think that’s probably one of the most underestimated parts of my game is that I have spent the last three offseasons exclusively here and I’ve put in a lot of time and a lot of hard work into figuring out this offense. I think I’ll be ready to go once we can finally lace them up for real. I think I’ve always been a guy who wants to be involved not only in working together but be involved in the lives of these guys. I want us to be a connected team, on and off the field."

Our View:Packers' coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers keeps doing everything right, and added that Rodgers will be the starter despite drafting Brian Brohm in the second round.

Head coach Mike McCarthy will adjust the offense to mesh with quarterback Aaron Rodgers' strengths and weaknesses as they become more apparent; however, he suggested the changes will be relatively minor, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. His comments about Rodgers' athleticism suggest he might run more bootleg-type passes than he did with Favre. Also, drafting Jordy Nelson with the top pick suggests the spread passing attack with four and five receivers will remain a staple in the offense to take advantage of the team's best playmakers in Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones and, perhaps now, Nelson. "(The spread personnel) is not the starting point of our offense," McCarthy said. "But we definitely have the players to do that, and it takes advantage of the strength of our perimeter players, because it puts the ball in their hands quickly and gives them the ability to make yards after the catch."

Our View:Whether the scheme changes are minor or not, Rodgers has a steep hill to climb in replacing Favre, who is a first ballot Hall of Famer and a legendary figure in Green Bay.

With Brett Favre riding off into the sunset, the Green Bay Packers hit this year's NFL Draft noting their offensive needs and wasted no time in addressing the situation, using their top two picks to bolster their efforts to score points. With the 5th pick in the 2nd round, the Packers drafted Kansas State WR Jordy Nelson and followed that selection by taking Louisville QB Brian Brohm later in the round (the 25th pick of the 2nd round).

Our View:While the addition of Brohm is going to garner great attention (and rightfully so, adding a talented and intelligent play caller to compete with Aaron Rodgers, the Packers' 1st-round pick from '05), the decision to add Nelson may be one of the more underrated additions of the draft. Nelson doesn't possess outstanding speed, but he worked as one of the most productive receivers in college football last season. He's an excellent route runner, he has outstanding hands, and his technique is advanced for a player of his experience. With Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, and James Jones all on hand working as speedy deep threats to spread the field, it would not be surprising to see Nelson emerge as the team's potent slot receiver, eating up mid-range passes that will be crucial for these inexperienced passers.

At a time when plenty of teams are rumored to be interested in trading up in the draft, the Green Bay Packers are believed to be hoping to move down, in order to pick up extra picks, according to Pro Football Talk.

Our View:Green Bay has the 30th overall selection in the first round, and there are rumors circulating that a handful of undisclosed teams might be interested in trading back into the first round, to select a quarterback.
