Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official website is shooting down a previous report from the Dayton Daily News stating that Cincinnati is considering using Matt Jones as a tight end.

Our View:Jones does have good size (6-6, 218), but ultimately may not be able to hold up as a blocker - which is what prevented talented pass-catcher Chase Coffman from seeing the field as a rookie in 2009.

There is belief that the Bengals will use Matt Jones at tight end next season, according to the Dayton Daily News.

Our View:Jones (6-6, 218 pounds) certainly has the size to work at tight end, and could actually hold some fantasy value at the position for 2010. That scenario could hurt the stock of Chase Coffman though, who did not get a chance to play as a rookie last season due to poor blocking skills.

Not even the Bengals are enthused about their signing of receiver Matt Jones, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Our View:"It was one of the worst workouts I have ever seen," a Bengals team source said of Jones' recent workout. "I don't care how fast his 40 time is or was, he's a slow-twitch athlete." Sounds like Jones is a long-shot to make the team next season. Stay tuned.

Matt Jones has signed with the Bengals, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Our View:Now all the Bengals have to do is sign Donte Stallworth (who they are in fact reportedly interested in) to complete the duo of this offseason's two most troubled free agent receivers. On one hand, the Jones signing does nothing but help reinforce the general conception that Cincinnati pays no attention to anyone's off-the-field history. On the other, Jones possesses the athleticism and size to make a difference opposite Chad Ochocinco with Carson Palmer throwing him the ball, and could compete with Laveranues Coles and Andre Caldwell for a starting gig. Jones had also been considering signing on with the Titans.

Updating a previous report, Matt Jones is leaning towards signing with the Bengals over the Titans, according to the Tennessean.

Our View:The Bengals are desperately looking for a deep threat to compliment Ochocinco, but Jones is typically more utilized on slant routes. Still, his size could make him a nice fit in the Bengals receiving core. Unfortunately for the Titans, their $700,000 offer didn't entice him enough, and he's leaning towards Cincinnati, who hasn't even made him an offer yet.
