Player Notes
November 4, 2008
Mewelde Moore replaced Najeh Davenport as the deep return man on kickoffs, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:This only holds significance in fantasy leagues that award points for return yardage on special teams.
October 26, 2008
Running back Mewelde Moore was up to the task of replacing Willie Parker again on Sunday, rushing 19 times for 84 yards and a touchdown. He added two catches for 10 yards as a receiver.

Our View:That's three solid games in a row in Parker's stead. Moore is likely earning some touches when Parker returns, and he remains a solid option until then.
October 19, 2008
Running back Mewelde Moore posted 20 carries for 120 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and chipped in five receptions for 14 yards and a score through the air in the Week 7 victory over Cincinnati.

Our View:In the past two games, Moore has carried the ball 37 times for 219 yards. It's pretty obvious at this point that Moore is a quality option if Willie Parker continues to struggle with his knee injury.
October 17, 2008
Expect running back Mewelde Moore to start against the Bengals on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Willie Parker is likely to miss the game with his still-injured knee.

Our View:Moore rushed for 99 yards on 17 carries last week. A week earlier, his 24-yard reception in overtime set up a 46-yard Jeff Reed field goal in the Steelers' 23-20 win over the Ravens.
October 16, 2008
Mewelde Moore will get the start at running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers if Willie Parker is unable to play, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Though Moore would start, Najeh Davenport and Gary Russell would also see carries. Moore would still be a decent play, considering the opponent is Cincinnati, who allow 156.8 rushing yards per game.
October 5, 2008
In his first start of the 2008 season, Mewelde Moore rushed for 99 yards on 17 carries in place of starter Willie Parker on Sunday night at Jacksonville.

Our View:The word is that Parker will be back after the Steelers' Week 6 bye, but Moore gives them two options in the backfield and should continue to see action in third-down and obvious passing situations.
October 3, 2008
Mewelde Moore will be the starting running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers when the team faces the Jaguars on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Willie Parker, Rashard Mendenhall and Carey Davis are each out with injury, opening the door for Moore, Gary Russell and Najeh Davenport to share the load.
July 4, 2008
Mewelde Moore has been impressive for the Steelers thus far, and he could be a real offensive weapon as a third-down back, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:The report suggests Moore could snare as many as 40 or 50 passes out of the backfield. If that is the case, he has fantasy value in PPR leagues, but otherwise he is behind Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall, and won't get many carries.
March 3, 2008
Mewelde Moore has agreed to a three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Moore was the Vikings’ No. 3 running back last season and also was used on punt returns. He will be reunited with Steelers coach and former Vikings defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh. Moore is expected to fill the third-down role in Pittsburgh, along with assuming the punt and kickoff return duties.
March 3, 2008
The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted Minnesota free agent running back Mewelde Moore this past weekend and his signing appears imminent, according to ESPN. Moore would provide Pittsburgh with a legitimate third-down back that could help out in the passing game. He's also likely to serve as the team's primary kickoff and punt returner. In his four seasons with the Vikings, Moore has rushed for 1,285 yards (4.9 avg.), while catching 116 passes for 1,093 yards.
February 29, 2008
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have scheduled a visit with running back Mewelde Moore, according to the Pewter Report. With the uncertain status of Cadillac Williams and expected departure of Michael Pittman, the organization is looking to bring in some running back depth. Moore, 26, is a player Tampa Bay was expected to target because of his versatility and production. In his four seasons with the Vikings, Moore rushed for 1,285 yards (4.9 avg.) and caught 116 passes for 1,093 yards.
