The Seahawks released wide receiver Keary Colbert, according to NFL.com.

Our View:The Seahawks acquired Colbert right before the trade deadline. The receiver will now begin looking for another job.

Either Keary Colbert or Billy McMullen will start at receiver opposite Deion Branch in Week 5 at the Meadowlands against the Giants, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. Bobby Engram will work from the slot.

Our View:Colbert only has one reception for eight yards over three games played this season, and is not a favorable fantasy option if he starts against a well-rested Giants' defense (coming off bye) on their home turf.

Keary Colbert will replace Courtney Taylor in the Seahawks starting lineup against the Rams this Sunday according to the The News Tribune. He joined the team earlier this week and has already impressed coach Mike Holmgren enough for him to make him the starter.

Our View:Colbert is suddenly a strong play for Week 3 against the league's 32nd ranked defense. He is likely on your waiver wire so don't hesitate to pick him up. However, Bobby Engram and Deion Branch could be back in the coming weeks decreasing Colbert's long-term value.

Keary Colbert has only been a Seahawk for about a day, but head coach Mike Holmgren says that he will see plenty of playing time at flanker versus the Rams in Week 3, according to the AP.

Our View:Even though Colbert has a good match-up against the weak Rams secondary in Week 3, he doesn't merit much value given that he's so new to the offense.

NFL.com indicates the Broncos will receive a conditional fifth-round pick in 2009 in the deal that shipped Keary Colbert to Seattle.

Our View:Seattle has a good match-up against a vulnerable Rams' secondary this weekend, but Colbert does not merit fantasy attention as he needs time to learn the Seahawks' playbook.
September 16, 2008
The Denver Broncos traded receiver Keary Colbert to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for a late-round draft pick, according to FoxSports.com.

Our View:Seattle has been completely destroyed by injuries to the wide receiver position, and simply need warm bodies right now. He had not caught a pass this season for the Broncos, and despite the 'Hawks struggles, he does not figure to end up making a huge fantasy impact in the coming weeks.

Keary Colbert is on the bubble to make Denver's 53-man roster, according to ESPN.com.

Our View:Although Colbert hasn't been great in the preseason and in training camp, he should end up with a roster spot.

As we near training camp, word out of Denver is that wide receiver Keary Colbert has a slight edge over Darrell Jackson to become the team’s No. 2 wide receiver, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View:We expect a spirited battle between Colbert and Darrell Jackson in training camp, and rookie Eddie Royal is also in the mix for the No. 2 role.

Keary Colbert has been compared to Rod Smith by coach Mike Shanahan, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Shanahan said, "He was in an offense that didn't have a lot of success throwing the ball, but we believe he's got the ability, much like Rod Smith, to do a number of things for our offense and do it well. He blocks well, he catches well, really an experienced guy that's exceptionally bright. He's a guy that's very similar to the Rod Smiths of the world, a hard worker, works his rear end off on every play."

Our View:Colbert will be competing with Darrell Jackson for the starting job opposite Brandon Marshall this season. Jackson failed to make an impact in San Francisco and Shanahan seemingly favors Colbert, namely due to his solid blocking skills. This should be a tight battle through training camp.
June 3, 2008
Keary Colbert has recovered from his hamstring ailment and is back at practice for the Broncos, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Colbert is projected to be a starter at receiver alongside Brandon Marshall this season, and the team is pleased that his injury was minor and he is back in action.

Keary Colbert is projected to be a starter in the Denver offense, alongside Brandon Marshall, according to the Rocky Mountain News. "I like the type of person he [Colbert] is, you could see the way he played in the running game and the passing game, that's what we look for in a player," head coach Mike Shanahan said. We had already reported this news earlier in the offseason, but this update comes directly from Shanahan, for what it’s worth.

Keary Colbert is expected to replace Javon Walker in the Denver Broncos' starting lineup, according to USA Today. Colbert, who has started 42 games for Carolina over the past four seasons, has compiled 109 receptions, 1,424 yards and seven touchdowns during his career. Colbert is currently penciled as the starter opposite Brandon Marshall, because the Broncos want to utilize receiver Brandon Stokley in the slot.

Adam Schefter of NFL.com is reporting that the Broncos signed former Panthers receiver Keary Colbert on Saturday. The package is a three-year deal worth $2.4 million per year. Colbert has more fantasy value in Denver than he would have had in Carolina. That value still rests in deep formats.

The return of Muhsin Muhammad to the Carolina Panthers could make Drew Carter and Keary Colbert expendable, according to ESPN. The hope in Carolina is that Muhammad will be a veteran mentor for second-year WR Dwayne Jarrett, who the team would like to see seize the number two spot on the depth chart. If Jarrett is not up to the task, then Muhammad could fill the slot on the other side of Steve Smith, and Jarrett could be the third receiver. Neither Colbert, nor Carter has been very consistent the past couple of seasons.
